Hi everyone! Thanks for all the help given concerning my recent tail gate power window issue. I now have a window that can go up and down .

    I have two issues.

I have a 1978 LTD station wagon and recently I lost brakes. The pedal is hard and I have little or on brake. I replaced the master cylinder but it did not help.
This loss of braking was gradual over the period of a week or two.

    Any ideas?

Also, when my power window would not go up completley I removed to guides from the top outer edge of the door so that I could manually pull the window up and wedge it in place until such time that I could find and fix the window motor problem. That was a couple years ago and I have forgotten which way to reinstall these guides. If someone has a 1975-1978 LTD and could send a picture of these guides installed I sure would appreciate it. Or if someone has a factory service manual blow up of the tail gate.

    Thanks for all the help!

    T.W.

Maybe a vacuum problem with the brakes?
Do you have a vacuum pump or guage?

I was thinking the same thing. Happened to me on my 1979 Farimont. The booster was toast.

The booster. Thats what I was afraid of and that is what I thought too. Dang it, I hate crawling under the dash to get to the bolts.

Test it for leaks first! It may just be the vacuum hose thats clogged, bent, collapsed or broke. Take a clean hose and attatc it to the booster, suck on it and see if you get any resistance.

There is a check valve on my brake booster that's on my '78 CS. Try checking that too. I have had them go bad.

I can take some pictures of the rear window "guts" on my '78 tonight or tomorrow when I'm out in the garage (I have to lube up the guides, hes makin noises).
