with arthritis in my knees ankles and wrists down to 6 hr a day ,waiting for surgery on my knees. To Dr today she says 1 year for specialist and doesn't think i can do the heavy lifting twisting and pushing 600 lb bowls of pastry even after they scrape the bone spurs from the knees. So after much thought she put me off on ltd till surgery. LTD has programs to help get new job etc so after 23 years making pies i don't have to go in tomorrow mixed emotions as i'll miss the people.
sorry to hear you are having health issues. It sure does change ones perspective on life and enjoying every day as much as we can. Best of luck with the speed of the surgery and recovery.
Sorry to hear about your health issues GN...so I guess you'll be around here more often chatting with the old guys...
Been there GN and I do feel for you. But what is better, the grief and pain or enjoy life even if it takes a hit on the pay day? Your health is more than worth it.
I feel your pain, literally. I have Congestive Heart Failure with Atrial Fibrillation, as well as bad knees, ankles and lower back (6'6" and 475 LBS doesn't help), and because I take Warfarin Sodium (a rat poison used for blood thinning), I cannot take ANY NSAIDs because of bleeding issues and its adverse effects on my heart. So I've been dealing with pain since last October, when the last of the Ibuprofen wore off. Right now, I take Tramadol, and it helps a bit.
Up news this morning grandkid #5 arrived at 4:03 am 6lbs 15.5 oz mom and daughter doing fine they say she looks like Brennon(the dad) but she will grow out of that! Blue cross thinks they can pull strings and get me in faster lets see either way i won't be able to do the bending lifting twisting and pushing 600+ lbs bowls.
Ouch! and Congrats! My wife is cheap, and I'm frugal, when it comes to buying DVD movies. I'll pay a couple bucks more to get the Special Features, especially on action flicks and classics. Well, I got the Expendables 1 and 2, and there's Stallone, after taking some bad hits, and doctors all over him with xrays, and other tests and somehow, he managed to finish the flick. I think he's pushed the old body (born in 1946) all it can go. What's not publicized, if at all, is that a lot of entertainers hit these ceilings in their careers and decide to fund scientists to find solutions. We can't stop rust on our cars, but just like our skin, the body is a capable healer. Aging is inevitable, but there's lots of info today, to help us recover, prevent, and improve. Sorting out the bunk from the golden egg is the trick, eh? So, in your newfound spare time, see if you can find some "Human Rust Removers" via veggies or fruits or love potion number 9. I just did a quick search on the BING search engine, for 'healing arthritis' and got 13,700,000 hits. I'll bet Google has more. My wife had an attack of Zoster before we left Mexico, back in 1999. Awful stuff. I dug for info about the expensive creams and potions the doctors were shoving on us to treat it. Found the lab/chemical contents and learned that they were all based on cloves. We found recipes that we liked that had Cloves in them, and after 6 months, it was gone. Its not supposed to go. Its supposed to dog you the rest of your life. It was GONE! Can't put a good Canuck down!
Me too. After both hips were replace about five years ago I started taking on water. Got so bad I had heart failure and left this world. I actually saw the light and I'm not religeous! Have no idea why I am still here. Doctors said my heart was only pumping like 20% when it did start beating again. Infraction ratio I think it's called. Was told I had permanent heart damage and wouldn't be able to do much. I was in ISU for weeks. I know, some are in for months or years. But weeks seemed forever. At the time I had no idea why they were repeating so many tests. When I was released a gang of doctors gathered around and told us my heart had no damage and was performing like a 21 year old. Sadly it is still in the body of what looks like a 100 year old! I got much better and things were great until three years ago this coming July. I knocked my right eye lense into the socket in a freak yard cleaning accident. Sadly not being able to go out in the sun caused me to sit on my butt and aggitate members of these forums. Finally I have slowed way down. Never give up. Keep as active as possible and enjoy life.
