For Folks in and around Austin, or visiting, here are some of the local cruise-ins and upcoming shows. One of the reasons I totally love living here (in addition to being able to wear shorts all year, the music, the food, sunshine almost every day, friendly people, NO SNOW/SALT, and amazing salvage yards with nearly a total lack of rust within a few hours’ drive..) is the HUGE car-culture Austin has. You can find somewhere to hang out almost every weekend. Sunday Morning Monthly Area Meets - note the Earlybirds (between 9-10am or earlier) get the good spots at these, and most of these are over by 1pm: Cabela’s Outdoor World 15570 S Interstate 35 Frontage Rd, Buda, TX 78610 (512) 295-1100 Austin – Top Notch, always some cars there on weekends, but big meet is Hot Rod Meet is the Second Saturday every Month (next June 7th). Note: generally 50-70s cars get best spots, the newer cars park in outlying areas outside the covered Drive-In.
