Hello everyone! Sure is nice to finally find a site with all different makes, yet still one thing in commom .. wagons.

Anyone here into 1966 Impala/Belair or Biscaynes? I'm wondering if the rear doors from a four door sedan will fit on a station wagon.

I have asked this question at two other sites and nobody can give me a "for sure" answer ... just a "well I think that they should" reply.

    Anyway ... thank you!

I like the 66' Caprice and Impala wagons...

Sorry, but I do not have an exact answer to your question. I am sure someone knows for sure.

Boy, that's a good question. I've got some collision database books, but a '66 is waaaay to old for what I have. I would have to agree with the Rev though - probably not the same.
My dad bought a new '66 Caprice 'woody' back when. 327, powerglide, PS, PB - and that's about it. No A/C, No prw winds/locks. Was the last Chevy he ever owned. Switched to Fords after that.

I can't see why they'd be different if the wheelbase is the same. I'd measure from the inside of the front A-PILLAR to the dog leg, and throw up a chunk of cardboard and trace the rear door outline on the sedan, cut it and match it to the wagon.

We had a new 1966 4-door sedan impala when I was younger and dumber and it was a game for us five kids to find all the cars that my dad had owned, when we were on a long trip (longer than the next pottie stop.)

The 1966 Wagons sure looked similar, and I lived in Oshawa, Ontario, where they built Canadian models.

Problem wouldn't be in the actual door 'shell', but in the frame around the window opening. Answer depends on whether the sedan roofline starts to drop before the 'end' of the rear door window line (which for the wagon, it doesn't)

I'll give you an example on another vehicle. I drive a 2003 Ford Focus S/W. The sedan Focus has a different door shell. Where the top of the door on the wagon is level, on the sedan, it starts to 'drop down' toward the back.

    Update:
Just did a 'search' for a '66 Impala rear door on Car-Part.com. -
Search asked whether I was looking for a SEDAN or WAGON door - There you go........

The same is true for the Fox body Ford wagons. The rear door window frames are different. You cannot take sedan doors and expect them to fit the wagon and visa versa. I cannot speak to the Chevy but you can at least measure from the bottom of the door to the top of the window frame and if the same they probably are. This doesn't mean you can't exchange the doors and then transfer the window frames. Just a thought.

Any idea on the rear door Fox glass? We've got a chance to get a couple for cheap, so I thought I'd score and store the side glass (rollup and fixed).

My collision db says Fox (Fairmont) door SKINS are the same between sedan / wagon, but the entire door shells are different - as prev. discussed, different surrounds around the glass; the moveable glass and the vent glass are both different.

Again you'd have to measure. If the door window frames are taller so should the glass.

I guess I could always grind them down to fit, if I had to. Those fixed units are a bear to get in and out. If one was broken, I'd pop in a piece of lexan until I got one.

    Hello.

Well I've got more responses here in the last 24 hours, than in three weeks on a few Chevrolet B Body only forums. I will make a measurment and compare. Didn't figure that the actual shell was very different but never thought of the frame around the glass. Changing the frame in not an issue since I would have the wagon frames anyway.

So thanks a bunch for everyone who took the time to respond.
    Have an awesome evening!
