(That engine bay tells me this probably isn't a California car)

Why do you say that? The only thing I see is slight surface rust on the bare cast iron parts (master cylinder & Exhaust manifolds) Some showing on the upper control arms. The owner has repainted the valve covers and intake manifold, and added the overused incorrect aftermarket red displacement sticker on the air cleaner. Otherwise it looks pretty clean just showing 45 years of wear and dirt IMO. SF is near a large body of Salt Water if I remember correctly.

The only other flaws I see are a cracked A/C fan shroud, and the missing drivers side chassis brace (that 90% of the 1971 and 1972 Pontiac B-body's seem to be missing, mine included.) The only reason I can think of why they were removed is for adding engine oil with the old Tin Oil Cans and Punch Spigot. The current plastic oil cans and a funnel are no problem with the brace installed.

Looks like a clean car with a running 455 engine that would be worth 1/2 the asking price in many parts of the country.

The new plates make me wonder. Undercarriage pics would tell more, but I am very willing to be wrong.
