Hi folks, I’m too excited about this to wait until I see the wagon in person to post. The shop sent me photos today and I am thrilled with the results. I should have it home early next week. Owen
Thanks Wylee - the shop is Coastal Classics in Jackson, NJ. They’ve done other work on the wagon and I’m always highly impressed with their work.
Thank you HRR, I appreciate it, and you’re right, it’s just what I hoped for - kind of like Christmas morning every day, and paying tribute to both of my parents. My Mom had a turquoise ‘69 Chevelle Greenbrier wagon (I had a ‘74 Chevelle grill installed on the wagon soon after getting it as I liked the look better and because it has the Chevelle script emblem for my mother). My Dad had a ‘76 plain Jane Malibu wagon that he gave to me after 7 years of harsh New England winters and the inevitable rust. It was very good mechanically and I turned it into a woody with contact paper, but the undercarriage and body were shot. When I was looking for a classic wagon in 2022, I found mine online at gateway classics in Las Vegas. The body style and 350 motor pay tribute to my father.
Thank you OrthmannJ! I agree with you - I like it both ways but I think it just looks old-school correct with the reproduction woodgrain from stripeman.com that is model-year correct. I’ll take photos and post once it’s home. Spoiler alert, I had the shop add an emblem to the tailgate from a 1978 Buick wagon which says ‘Estate Wagon’
