Mechanic told me last week that my rear main seal leak is likely not able to be completely fixed so why mess with it. Any of you guys have actual experience with your roady leaking oil there and you couldn't fix it? Thanks.

That seems odd, even if the crank has an issue a repair sleeve would fix a seal surface issue...unfixable???

Get a 2nd and 3rd opinion - sounds like he really doesnt want to do it!
Being a 1 - piece seal, I don't know if you've even gotta pull the pan.

Make sure it is the rear main seal. Other mechanics have been fooled by the oil sending unit leaking. The unit is situated on the rear of the engine on the driver's side and when it leaks it runs down and gives the appearance that it is the RMS.

Fox is right! I just had a customer that had the same diagnosis and found out it was his sending unit as well.
