I think the subject of diesel engines came up in another discussion of Chevettes. Anyway, here's a guy who has an '82 Chevette with the Isuzu diesel engine. Plus a spare engine and tranny also for sale. $1,800 for the car and $850 for the engine. http://www.kijiji.ca/v-classic-cars...el/1171345784?enableSearchNavigationFlag=true And here's the spare engine: http://www.kijiji.ca/v-engines-and-...on/1171434740?enableSearchNavigationFlag=true
I don't say this often but that's a decent looking Chevette. It would make a nice grocery getter. After I read the ad it appears to need some work first.
If I remember correctly one of the magazines tried to do a zero to 70mph test on a Chevette Diesel and gave up because they could only get it up to around 68 mph on flat ground! But they did get over 60 mpg at 60 mph with it. And hated every second.
A turbocharger would have made a world of difference. Here's an Isuzu we never got Did Chevettes borrow Isuzu taillights or wuzz it the other way around?
I'll have to admit, when i 1st saw the title of the thread, I thought it said 82 corvette with 1.8 Isuzu . LOL
