Several years ago I ran across a kit (sold through a Ford dealer) for a clear plastic curtain that attaches between the rear seat and the cargo area on a Ford wagon. It used a removable clear plastic window (similar to a convertible top rear window), trimmed with vinyl. It was an NOS kit, but unfortunately it had been left in the weather and was badly damaged. Anyway, I was wondering if GM offered anything for their 65-70 wagon body style. I have a buddy who does custom upholstery work, and he could certainly make me a custom one, but if I could find a factory one (or at least a diagram of what it would have looked like), I would like to do that. I figure it would help the A/C system work better in the Phoenix heat, since it would reduce the area that it is trying to cool. Anyone know if such an option exists for GM? Thanks, Importsmasher
Never knew about those. Heck of an idea. If you don't me by now, I'd make one up. Make a template from an old sheet for the contour around the roof liner, then a light-gauge U-Channel to shape and screw into the side moldings (a bit of spring in the upward curve) and some of those canvas snaps (poprivetted to sides, seat top or cargo floor and the upper roof channel) Just thinking out loud. My headliner is off (too cold to reinstall right now), so I'm gonna see about that for mine. Great way to keep the pets (and the mother-in-law) in the back too.
The one I ran across was for a mid 60s full size Ford wagon. It was inside a 66 LeMans parts car I bought from a junkyard. I wish I had hung onto the instruction sheet; someone could probably have used it to make one for their car. My car currently has no headliner, so it would be pretty easy to make, but if the factory (or dealer) offered one, I would like to copy it to make it look correct. Importsmasher
That's right, you're restoring it. You might look here for an old manual or options catalog (Right click, because some sections take you to other sites): http://www.tocmp.com/
