As I live in the UK it rains a lot! When I turn on my wipers they rumble up and down the screen even when it's raining hard, then they mash up together and rip out the drivers side rubber blade.
I've run loads of grease on all the workings I can get to, the wiper rubbers are nice and supple.
I'm a bit stuck what to do next!
Would changing the two wiper blades for smaller ones stop them mashing up!?

Sounds like they are out of adjustment. Do you have the factory service manual? It details how to adjust them to avoid the mashing together problem.

No I don't, must get one!
I've now sorted them out! The car had a new front screen 2 years ago when the car lived in Texas, the screen fitter put the wiper arms right on the bottom of the windscreen and the wrong wiper under the other.
    The wipers work perfectly!

That's good you sorted it out. Too bad morons get to put their hands on fine machinery, screwing it up.
