I was offered this Chrysler Wagon today, I think a 1965- all I have to do is go and get it. The body looks pretty good, interiors is shot. How hard is it to get parts for one of these. The guy said it ran when he parked it about 15 years ago. The gas cap is missing so there is no telling whats inside the tank.
That does look like a 65, prolly a 413cid V8? Don't know abt parts availability but a Chrysler expert will be along shortly. Welcome to the madness!
Fire truck Not sure if he would sell it or not but I can ask him. IHe said the engine is a 383, I couldn't get the door open either stuck or locked, to get the hood open to see. If its a 413 I wouldnt be able to get it loaded up fst enough to get it out of there. He is the second owner.
Welcome to the forum Rob!! Parts are not easy to find but they are definitely out there. Interior parts are going to be tricky from that era, if you're building from a purest point of view and want to do stock parts all the way be ready to spend some coin, if you're flexible on the OEM issue it will be cheaper and easier to find an interior you can live with. The body looks a little rough but repairable...complete rocker replacment looks like it will be neccessary.
It really only looked like small surface rust what you see in the one picture is actually moss, it may be rotted underneath the moss though!!!
You're right Rob those rockers look much better from that angle, I would check that tank for critters and moss for sure though...
I would think you will need to drop the gas tank and pressure wash it or clean it in some fashion so you don't pass any crap in the system up to your carb. I'd also unhook the fuel line at the carb, remove any fuel filters, and then blow air through it until you are sure nothing is residing in it. Blow from each end and have someone on the other to watch for stuff coming out (cover the carb before doing this) and also to feel if the pressure increases. There is nothing worse than having crap in your fuel system. It will haunt you for a long time. I know, I had a tank with some rust because it had sat for a long time dry. It would flake off and cause trouble from time to time until I pulled it, had it coated at some tank restoration place, and that cured all my carburetion issues. Took me a while to get to that stage and a lot of frustration.
Welcome, Rob. that would sure be a looker all fixed up.... As for the interior, I believe the '65's to '68's at least were pretty similar on the inside, with maybe the exception of the instrument panel. Door trim panels, seats and cargo area trim should interchange among those. (Someone correct me if I'm wrong on this....?) Marshall
