Hello, I am located in Delaware County, NYS. Retired three years ago after a teaching career spanning 35 years. Current projects include a 1959 Chevrolet short box Fleetside 4 x 4 pickup and a 1953 Chevrolet tin woodie wagon. Always looking for good parts. Ken
Welcome! Are your projects restorations or customizations (i.e, getting the hot rod treatment)? Got any pictures?
Hi, Thanks for the reply. I have been more active on the Garage Journal Forum. This looks like a great site too. The 59 Fleetside is a shortbox custom cab with the rare stainless side trim on the box. Big back window. It is mounted on a 79 GM 4x4 chassis. 350 cu.in. modified to fuel injection. Hidden latches, one piece side glass, etc. It will be painted ivory/hunter green. The truck will be lettered as a Texaco shop truck. On the back window in script will be "Wimmin smile, men weep, and dogs keep beggin' for rides. Truck should be completed by mid June. I will post some pictures in a day or two in this thread. The wagon is a 53 Chevy handyman that will be a pale yellow and an ivory roof to match the truck. Wood grain as well. It has the stock 235 that is hopped up with dual Carter Weber carbs, Fenton headers, Offenhauser intake, Offy fined valve and side cover. The stock column 3 speed will be floor mounted or perhaps a T5. I have a set of NOS 53 Caddy headlight bezels that will go on it. Looking for a visor. Further from being completed than the truck, hopefully next year. It'll be a 53 with attitude. The body is in primer and VGC. Have replaced the floors. Tailgate was a tough rebuild but everything else was solid. Previous Texas/Oklahoma car. Will include some pics of the wagon as well. These are being done/stored in a 50's Texaco theme garage that I built in 2010. Pics coming soon. Thanks for letting me share.
Ken sounds like some really nice projects. I always wanted to build a garage display or at least a storefront next to my garage. Never happened. Will be waiting for lots of pictures.
