Hi everyone, yesterday I noticed a small oil leak after starting my car for the first time in a couple of weeks. I know that there can be many causes, but I was just wondering if this is a common issue with Roadmaster Estate Wagons and what my first steps should be. Thanks in advance for any insight people can bring.

1st step...what's leaking and its relative location?

If it's been really cold it could be that a hose has lost its elasticity and is leaking antifreeze. It might reseal itself as it warms up.

I’m pretty positive that it’s oil, I was able to wipe some up from the floor of my garage, but I can’t determine the location of the leak as I have not been able to jack it up yet to look. It does look like the bottom front of the engine, and there were a couple of wet hoses. Sorry that I can’t be more precise but I appreciate your reply.

A bright flashlight helps from above; on those versions of the SBC V8, the joint between the block and intake manifold, the seal on the Opti-Spark housing in the timing cover, the timing cover itself and the front main seal are the most likely areas to leak.
