I agree, But I find it odd that the convertible versions of these and the FWD Sunbirds are the only versions that do seem to survive. I rarely see the fixed roof versions of either for sale.

Maybe the convertibles were bought as Sunday drivers or vacation home cars? Not daily drivers?

Convertibles are "fun cars" for those who like nice weather and Sunday drives. Fixed roof versions of these cars were poor people cars driven until they fell apart - they weren't super well-made so they didn't last once you started neglecting the maintenance. Let's also not forget that a car this age is nearing 30 years old now. How many nice '60s or '70s cars were still around when this car was brand new?

My best friend is a Pontiac fan to the fullest. He had a Sunfire GT. It was white with a 5 speed. He LOVED that car. I always thought they were goofy looking. I think he went through three engines in that little car before he finally gave up on it.
He's still a Pontiac nut and he still wishes he had held onto it.
