It's interesting to see that as late as 1984, the rearview mirrors were still controlled by mechanical wire with the passenger side rearview mirror control just to the right of the steering column. When did things move to electric control?

For the GM full-size wagons, it was not until the 1991 redesign when they went with electric remote-control rearview mirrors!

This photogenic 1984 CE Estate is now at $7600 with reserve still not met!

You sure about that? Both mirrors on my 87 Buick are electric remote and the control for the passenger side is basically in the same location as this Chev.

My mistake, Tedy. I was thinking about my own Chevy. I forgot that Buick (and maybe Olds) offered electric mirrors.

NICE! Has a Chevy 305 under the hood too, not the gutless Olds 307. This would be a great car!

That is news to me if your 89 is not electric, I figured all the mid to late 80's f-size GM's had it.

Surprisingly, I believe electric mirrors were available on the box wagons much earlier. I came across somebody on this forum with another '81 Bonneville Safari who swears his mirrors are electric. If that's so, then apparently they offered both manual and electric remote mirrors at the same time. Om mine, I've got a manual-remote on the left side, and a 'no remote' on the right.

    EDIT:
Yup, just checked the brochure option page. Even in '81, you could order 'power' (electric) mirrors, or just plain old 'remote' (cable) mirrors.......

Is that an RPM gauge? Does it have that Fuel Economy gauge I read about in the owner's manual for my Caprice Sedan? Also, Do the Pontiacs come with this sort of dash cluster (if that's the term for it) stock? I've seen photos of some Pontiacs that look like this.
