No Reserve: 1981 Buick Regal Limited for sale on BaT Auctions - ending March 25 (Lot #68,849) | Bring a Trailer
Sold for $7100. nice condition, but really a base model car with 231V6 powering it, 2 tone paint, A/C, and AM/FM Radio there is not much there to attract more $$$. But it is an example of the cars that were on every street corner in the mid 1980's. I continue to be amazed by some of the "comments" on BAT like the last one on this auction I would love to bid on this, but some of the carpet dirt and spotting on the door panel just makes me not. Really? You would be bidding on a sub $10K car that is 40+ years old and some carpet dirt & Spots on the door panels keep you from bidding? And you felt the need to post that fact? Also what does this other comment have to do with this auction? "Ordering Corvettes in 2022 and 2023 will be challenging. Many parts shortages."
Old car guys REALLY like to hear themselves talk and keeping on the subject is something they rarely do. Just my experience...
As a kid in the 80s, gas was 40 cents per litre and all four in our family could eat at McDonald's for $10 with change to spare. In the 50s it was many times cheaper than that. Now though? Gas is $1.65/litre and who knows how much McDonald's is anymore. Haven't been to one in years. *looks online... Jeebus. A regular Big Mac is $5.69 CDN now! What the hell, man? I could make three 1/3 pound burgers at home for that price!...And way better tasting too.
Unfortunately, people think that convenience is worth its weight in gold. We had fresh (like 24 hours off the cow's leg) homemade chargrilled burgers, and that only cost the gas for a forty-mile round trip, to serve eight burgers.
Well, it's my goal to do homesteading, so one day I may be raising my own cows and chickens, dispatching and dressing them, growing my own food, canning it, making all my own meals from scratch from what I grow, etc. Call me old fashioned, but I can't stand today's conveniences and manmade, pre-packaged everything. I crave that kind of self-reliance and connection to the land that our ancestors used to benefit from. In so many ways, I'm not made for the 21st century. Most times I think I was meant to live sometime in the 19th century. lol Anyway, I'm getting way off-topic, so I digress...
The way prices are now, this is not really bad for $7100. It's a decent car you could drive to car shows, around town, and not really worry about it.
