I never knew the Berinettas had a rear spoiler; all the ones I have seen didn't have one. Was it an option, or was it installed by someone after the fact?
Nice looking example, kinda decieving on the mileage listing it in the spec area as 5300, then listing the true mileage on the car as 31,625. Then saying there is 5,500 miles in the non original 350 crate engine. According to the VIN it is an original California spec 305 V8 car. So the 350 probably makes it more fun to drive. But it probably still has the original highway gear in it. Don't get me wrong it is a nice looking and optioned car, with T-tops (not a plus for me) A/C, Power windows & brakes. And the $20,000 asking price is reasonable IMO. Considering it is at a dealer its Cheap! Those seats would look great in my 77 Astre Formula! I may have to look at 1980 Camaro seat cover options!
My sister and her husband had a beautiful dark blue Pontiac Firebird with T tops - the leaks set them crazy until somebody did them a favor and stole them. Good excuse to sell the car.
I know they were a seperate option on any Firebird model, I assume the same is true for Camaro's. I once had a base model 1973 Firebird, I6 chevy powered, 3-speed manual, and the only options were power steering, gauge package with indash tach, & rear spoiler. I actually liked driving the car. But it could also have been added when the engine was swapped.
A straight 6 and 3 spd was a perfectly fine combo for a lot of people back on the day. You may not know it from todays car shows but a ton of early Mustangs were delivered that way and many v8 stangs had a 3 spd. Anyone remember Pontiac's OHC 6 from the late 60s ?
Yes I do, what do think my screen name signifies? I have owned around 30 OHC-6 powered cars in the past, but sadly sold my 69 Firebird Sprint this spring, and now just have some spare parts & rebuildable engines.
Leno is building a Sprint convertible right now, doing a few performance mods. I think he said something about buying it from a 'grandma' original owner somewhere in So Cal. You'll catch a bit of it in this 'Restoration Blog' at the 10:00 point...........
