1974 Oldsmobile Ninety-Eight Regency Hardtop Sedan for sale on BaT Auctions - ending January 24 (Lot #134,377) | Bring a Trailer Competition cars in myrtle beach has got another nice one.
Beautiful car. The height of Oldsmobile luxury for 1974. Interesting that, for a car with only 26,000 miles, they had to replace all of these things: Some of thee I can understand, but the fuel tank sending unit? That requires taking out the gas tank, no minor task. The oil pan? What goes wrong with an oil pan? Unless you ran over something and it got dented. Ditto for the valve covers. The photos show the valve covers to be correct Oldsmobile valve covers, but how about just repainting them if they need any attention?
I think he meant oil pan gasket, intake manifold gaskets, exhaust manifold gaskets, valve cover gaskets and thermostat gasket. I can see all of those drying out with little/no use through the years. Fuel tank sending unit probably rusted out from sitting in a tank again with little to no use.
Yes, he puts the word "gaskets" at the end of the long train of part names. I missed that. It's easy to mis-interpret what he means, as I did. I would not word it that way.
