Neat thing about this Cougar is it's a Q-code, 351CJ. Would have been nice if the seller had included pics of the engine compartment.
Am I missing something? The VIN indicates a 460. If they swapped in a 351CJ, then the ad should reflect that. Not only that, but the "Q' code has 'transistorized' ignition; if they swapped in a 351CJ, did they also trade in the proper ignition?
Yup. So it makes me wonder just how this guy is marketing it? Hiding it in plain sight/cloning it? Can someone order a Marti report if they don't own that particular vehicle? I'd be interested to see it.
I asked the seller to confirm the VIN. He sent a picture of the title. Looks like he had fubared the VIN, in the listing, leaving out the Q, and has now corrected the listing. The VIN in the listing now matches the VIN on the pic of the title.
I'll check it out. This now has my BS sonar pinging. I could see accidentally hitting 'A' instead of 'Q' (why I got rid of my tablet and went back to my laptop), but for something that important, you have to proofread what you type, especially a vehicle VIN. If it turns out to just be an error, fi e, it happens, but I would have a police agency verify the VIN through the frame stamping of it.
"I have no time to show it off." Yeah? If you wanna make a sale, as close to the $6K price tag you're offering, you had better make time.
Finally engine pics on the '74. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1974-Mercury-Cougar-/332112027567?_trksid=p2141725.m3641.l6368
