Hello group, Im new to this site as i found it while searching for parts for my new project. If any one has any extra exterior side trim for a 1973 satellite wagon, Let me know. Thanks
Welcome to the forum Jon! I can tell you from experience that these cars are hard to find parts for. My 74 needed a passenger side rear fender...I never did find one, the original had to be rebuilt with an english wheel. Good luck and I see you work in auto parts too!
Thanks Yes, i work auto parts and get stuck doing the night shift so ill be getting ready for work in a few mins. wanted to get a head start on this site as ill be picking the wagon up in a couple of weeks and have alot planned to do to it as its mainly a rust free original paint florida wagon. It has a bad trans, so thats first on the agenda as i already tracked down a good used 727 non-lock up to replace the 904 trans that was used from the previous owner. My plans are to make it a nice usable cruiser and parts hauler. Ill post pics once i get it home.
I hope I'm hearing that a previous owner installed that 904 in your B-body Jon? I can't believe Mother Mopar would "under gun" a 4,000# long roof with that little trans! to the party BTW. Hope you can find the partz you're looking for, Jer
Yes, the previous owner installed a rebuilt 904 that lost throttle pressure and gives me the perfect reason to make it right again. Anyways, off to work time to deal with customers that dont know a wheel cylinder from a wheel bearing and expect me to tell them how to fix everything thats wrong with their cars when they dont have any money. Then again, its a job. Thanks Again to all of you that replied, looks like a great site.
Welcome to the nuthouse we call home! Always room for another wagon lover around here. Nice to know that your Satellite has found a good home. Feel free to jump into any of the discussions. Mainly, though, have lots of fun.
Thanks to everyone for such a warm welcome to the group. Ive owned many Mopars through the years however this is my first wagon project as most wagons in the past were only used for parts cars for other projects. Makes me sad now to realize how under rated these wagons really were back then.
Jon: You will make an interesting discovery about these old wagons. The mid-sized wagons, especially, hold a surprise for people. Most folks forget that they are on the same platforms as the famous, and infamous, muscle cars, but with better inherent weight distribution. Sure the wagons are a bit heavier, but all the extra weight is over the rear wheels. With the right engine and suspension combination, it is astounding just how well these cars can stop and corner, not t mention being faster off the line.
