I had a 1973 Oldsmoble Not Sure once. I trade in my '68 Oldsmobile Can't Remember for it. At the time, I bought my wife a '68 Oldsmobile Hair Needs Drying. This is one of the funniest ads I've ever seen. From Facebook Marketplace. The owner doesn't know anything about the car other than the year and that it has mold inside. And they want $4800 for it. In one of the photos, "Delta 88" can be seen on the fender, so that wasn't too difficult. It is a 1973 Olds Delta 88 two-door hardtop ("Holiday Coupe," in Oldsmobile parlance). That's actually a desirable body style. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/388552600148005/?hoisted=false&ref=search&referral_code=null&referral_story_type=post&tracking=browse_serp:d0f02e52-58cf-490b-a216-f3daf2f94798 You can just make out "Delta 88" in the bottom left of this photo.
Someone clearly loved this car at some point in the not-so-distant past. My guess is that they have passed and the folks selling it are probably their relatives. They obviously don't know anything about the car and don't want to. They just want to get the moldy thing out of the barn.
Yes, if they were asking $500, they could get away with such a poor ad. But they want nearly $5k to get it out of the barn. For that money, they need to do the minimum of actually telling us what the car is and getting a few better photos of it, including a full shot of the whole car. That' not asking too much. They've got a semi-desirable car that appears to be in not-awful shape. It would behoove them to spend 15 or 20 minutes educating themselves about the car and making a better presentation.
No kidding. Use the google machine and type in "1973 oldsmobile two door" for crying out loud. It's sad when I see stuff like this. This car brought someone great joy. But for whatever reason that love didn't get passed on. And now instead of it being a cherished family heirloom it's a smelly moldy annoyance.
Likely because they are a smelly moldy annoyance. I mean, do they honestly think they're sitting on a goldmine? That they don't need to do any work to it at all, but get big buxx?
