Looks like it’s been painted. 100% original? Still wouldn’t touch that with a 10 foot pole

Don’t know why he thinks it looks better with those wheels. I like them better remembering them they way they were…dog dish caps! My 71 Townsman (equivalent to Belair in 71) had them and the painted trim he speaks of. He doesn’t know these cars that well if he had to read about the trim online.

Agreed. $3,000 in wheels and tires. If it needed tires $500 spent a discount for the “original” look would have been all it takes. He waxes on about its originality. It looks yellow now, not its former tan, plus the new wheels? As our buddy says C’mon Man! And the interior is still filthy.

I would recycle them rims and put the stock rims back on, but that's just me.

OK apparently I have been missing out. I just read this thread from start to finish and read the fellows new CL ad.
I have to say that this entire thing is hilarious. I read the entire new ad that was posted today. What a joker this guy is.
I am getting way too much amusement out of this entire thing. I feel kind of bad because I believe people may have been screwed by this seller before and that's nothing to laugh about.

    But seriously:

"I DIG it still BUT what I REALLY want is a 70’s GM SWB custom van and they’re not CHEAP, in fact most I’ve seen that I like r TRIPLE my low price here!
Month’s ago, NON RUNNING, I wanted @ one point $11,500 for it(again NOT RUNNING) and believe it or not I was offered $9-$10 GRAND for it and I know, I shoulda taken those offers BUT I was not really even caring if I sold it then."

I have my doubts that this individual passed 9th grade english. And I'm not a grammar nazi by any stretch.
It just keeps cracking me up.
And the fact that he's had this thing listed numerous times previously just adds to the hilarity.

I wonder if I contact him he'll still subtract the $1000 from the top he kept from "the guy that put down the deposit and never picked up the car"

If he couldn’t sell it before when it wasn’t running what would motivate the guy to go out and spend $3000 on aftermarket rims that a perspective buyer may not care for? To me, this detracts from the value because now I need to go around and find all of the original wheels and wheel covers.
