Similar images for 1972 are hard to find. The Thunderbird was heavily de-contented for 1972, presumably to make the base price more appealing. Three models reduced to one - strictly a two-door hardtop. Previously standard equipment like cornering lamps and a remote-control driver's mirror became optional. And the mesmerizing sequential rear turn signals were history. But sales soared so....
