A 70 Ford Squire Just sold a couple hours ago at the Raleigh auction for, wait for it....$44,500 !!!!!! I bid All the way up to $27,000 then, it went NUTS !!! Like New 37K original miles But still, it DID set a New record according to the auction house. Who says wagons aren't " on fire " Indeed they are !!!!
See if you can post a link to Raleigh car auctions winter auction. I'm not real Saavy with that. I m,ight be able to post some pics I took off the auction. I'll check back in. CRAZY AUCTION !!! The car was Very Close to Showroom New ! Light blue exterior. Woodgarin AND fiberglass rail were Beautiful ! Navy blue interior
I don't know that the $44,500 will Ever get posted by the auction house. I Only know cause' I was bidding.
I think your wife will be thrilled to hear that. You have cash in the bank, and she has a clean yard.
well, it would easily cost that to put one into that condition. i might have gone that high if it had been a 69. the market is skinny and fickle. that car hit a couple of people's sweet spot, I imagine...
Country Squire not withstanding, every time I see a light blue ‘70 Ford I always think of the opening credits of Mary Tyler Moore and her ‘70 Mustang with the crooked front bumper.
That, and William Macy's character in Boogie Nights had a '70 Country Squire also(it was just on the other night, and I thought about this car)
The modern expression, I believe, is gobsmacked, but I'll stick with flabbergasted. Grant you, this car is amazing. You could eat off the underneath. I'm shocked this could reach that high a bid without even a 429. I have mixed feelings about this auction. On the one hand, I'm gratified to see my favorite model getting some recognition. On the other, this is likely to put the '70 CS well and truly out of reach of the any but those with immodest incomes (mine's so modest, it's practically a prude).
