1967 Buick Riviera GS for sale on BaT Auctions - ending April 1 (Lot #69,509) | Bring a Trailer I think this is a real good-looking design. This ext color is good, not sure about it with red seats.
I think we've seen this one before. If not, there must be someone else who was colorblind at a Buick dealer back in the day!
The original interior color was Black, and the underside and the wheel liners would not have been red either. I like some odd color combo's, but not this one.
Believe it or not, I have a story from a one-time Buick salesman that lends credence to your statement! A late friend of mine, who had sold cars for fifty years, had worked for the Buick dealer in Tacoma, WA, and in '63 or '64, either someone at the dealer, someone at the factory ordering office, or GM's master computer, somehow ordered a Wildcat in Salmon Pink with Seafoam Green accents...and that was just the outside! Essentially, the car was a lot queen, sat there for several months. Eventually, my friend asked the sales manager for permission to do some changes to the car to make it more palatable. He had some parts of the pink covered with green paint, to reduce the amount of pink. Then, after a couple more months of sitting, near sundown, a vic-I mean, a potential buyer-showed up, wanting a Wildcat, so George 'steered' the guy to this Wildcat, showed it to him (just after the streetlights had come on), the guy liked it, bought it. Next morning, the guy roared in, hopped out and began yelling he'd been tricked into buying such an ugly car! Of course, George answered that the guy had had a bunch of time to look at the car, to decide if he liked the colors or not....
