Greeting All & Merry Christmas! A very good friend of mine recently rescued a '65 Country Sedan from its 25+ year slumber in a garage nearby. He has rebuilt several items and is replacing all the necessary parts. Unfortunately, his biggest obstacle is the gas tank. It has been soldered/brazed so many times its scary! It's been repaired so many times he's not about to do any more 'patching' only to have it fall apart the moment he puts gas in it! Does anyone know of a 1965/66 tank for a Country Sedan that could be for sale? NOTE; We already know it is a bit rare and apparently, the only two years this particular shaped tank was used is '65/'66. Not sure if it was used in the Mercury models. Thanks!
A Hollander exchange guide will tell you if a Mercury tank will fit, and any particulars you'd need to know about replacing this tank. But for sure, because of how few there are of those wagons, you will need to go interstate to get one, and unfortunately, it will not be cheap.
I have two tanks. Neither are in the best shape but they are original. Just some pinholes and stuff. No solder or brazing as far as I can tell. As of now they are both in South Carolina and I am in Ohio. I should know in the next few weeks which one I am using. So I should have an extra one. If you want to pm me late January or so I can let you know 100% if I have an extra.
