New intro... have more pics...finally This is my 63 Squire. My first car was a 63 1/2 galaxie in high scholl and I wanted another old car. I have a family, now, and have loved wagons for years, so I bought this one. I had it shipped to me from Reno to Ohio. It spent most of it's life in Huntington Beach California. It is a 6 passenger with a 390 cruis-o-matic, and factory air. I bought 2 more with the intent of putting the 4-speed and console from a factory 4-speed wagon that is super rusty. I also have a tri-power intake and carbs to rebuild and put on her. Almost every Sunday was spent cruising with my girls aroud rural Ohio. Real family fun. The response form others has been unbelievable. Everyone we meet asks questions or gives us thumbs up. Hope you like her.... she's got a ways to go, be we love her.
Cool. A little rust but, cool none the less. Funny about the way Ford gives names to transmissions. Cruise-O-Matic. My 82 Mercury has a "Shift-O-Matic".
Squatch, wait till the Rev chimes in! He's the town guru on those! Nice rig. Glad you're saving her from Toyota's smelters!
Welcome. That is super nice. I like what you are doing with it - the Thunderbolt treatment on the headlights is cool. I am also in Ohio, and right now my wagon is in Mansfield have some work done. I don't know if you do your own body work or not, but there is a very talented young body/paint guu right there in Mansfield I can refer you too. There is also an EXTREMELY talented interior guy there. I just had him pad the dash on my 60 Olds. Just let me know if you are interested.
I have a couplefriends who are really good painters. I like Doan for my interior... Funny small world... My wife works in Radnor. At Buckeye Valley North. She's a teacher. Who are your guys? Mike
You're exactly right - Very small world. We live 3 miles from that school on S.R. 203. My name is Curtis Conklin, and My wife's name is Mary. And Huy Doan is the interior guy I was going to refer you to! I had him pad my dash and make a cargo mat for the back. I had them embroider an image of the rocket emblem that was between the headlights on the 60 Oldsmobiles in the center of the dash pad. It turned out way better than I could have hoped for. The guy doing the body work is in the back of the interior shop - Brian Stitt, BS Creations. He did the paint & body on the street rod Huy is building for himself. Maybe I'll see you at a show this summer. Radnor is just outside Delaware, and Delaware has a great show in the downtown area every July - 800 plus cars - a very nice event. It would definitely be worth the trip for you. Hope to see you around!
I think it's great. That other one that you can lift to roof off of, is worth a fortune in the trim work. That squire trim is hard to find, not to mention the glass.
Small world, Curtis! Cool!.. I think Brian lives off of Stewart Rd in Mansfield acroos from a friend of mine... I know e did a Nova in Porsche red that was spectacular! Man... what a small world! I Keep me informed on the show... Huy did the seat on my hot rodded 1978 Kawasaki Z1-R... nice guy, too... I will see you around... Mike and Leslie
Nice Country Squire! i replied to your reply of my post before I saw this one. Car came from Huntington Beach via Reno, huh? I live about 25 minutes from Huntington. I'll be going to a Beach Cruiser show there this weekend - maybe your car was at it once.... I've got a soft spot for '63 Fords. I would have been 11 years old when they came out in September / October 1962. My dad was a Chevy guy, and had just bought his first new car - a '63 Nova. Well my dad's best buddy bought a new car also to replace his '57 Fairlane, and my dad took me over to see it. I oooh'd and ahhh'd over that car - a '63 500XL 2-door hardtop, in a real nice turquoise green. With those buckets and console, it looked real cool. Dad's buddy was a real perfectionist when it came to maintaining his cars. The '57 ALWAYS looked like it was on the showroom floor. The '63 stayed that way too. Sadly, we lost touch with him later. I always wondered what car he got to replace to 500XL, or did he keep it forever? Later, after some bad experiences with GM products, my dad finally did switch to Fords, but none of them were anything special. Their last car, which my step mom still drives on occasion, is a '90 T-Bird. She's in Carson City, Nevada by the way - about 30 miles from Reno. --------- Marshall
