hello just getting started on my Grandfathers old wagon here are a few pics of what I'm having to deal with.
Welcome! Sounds like a interesting project, tell us a little more on the history of your wagon please.
aboard. Did your grandfather have the wagon from when it was new? Looks like you have alot of work ahead of you there, my wagon looks to be in the same condition, if not worse. Don't let it get you down. We both are going to have really cool cars when they're finished.
Only history i know on it is that my Grandfather purchase it from a lil ole lady down the street from where i live now which also belonged to my Grandfather and i can remember riding in it with my Dad so I believe he was the second owner , and ive already purchased a 62 wagon donor car to replace the roof and doors. lookin real soon to get a supposed rust free front clip as well. My spirits are up since i found the donor a lot less work that i have to do.
Welcome! You are going to fit in just fine around here; you are just crazy enough. That is one great wagon you have there. Yes, it is a lot of work, but it is a wagon you don't see very often at all, and the family history really adds a lot of meaning to the entire job. Please start a build thread in the proper section and keep us up to date. If you want an idea of what we love to see, check out Vetteman's build thread on his Pontiac Grand Safari. I, for one, can't wait! One question about the 61 wagons: Did all of them come wit 2 lamps per side, or did the top line ones come with the 3rd lamp per side like the Impala sedans? I always thought the 3rd lamp just set the backs off nicely.
61 brother....if the 61 's are anything like up here....you got some hunting in front of ya my buddy spent 2 years finding good sheet metal for his...best bet is to look for a old 4 door that no one wants other than that...cool you got your Gramps car and are gonna fix her
parts i've already found almost all the sheet metal parts i need .in fact in a few weeks im going to pick up a rust free front clip
tail lights I am pretty sure they only came with 2 on the wagons, i have seen someone graft the 2 extra into a tailgate on the web somewhere recently.
Yup. I would have sworn the Nomads (comparable to the Impala trim) had the 3-per-side taillights, but this brochure page shows I'm wrong: And BTW, welcome to the forum, '61 Parkwood! Marshall
Welcome aboard! That's quite a project you're undertaking - have you done this extensive of a restoration before? Are you looking to bringing it back to showroom condition or will you personalize it?
