I know it's all personal preference, but I'd like to get a concensus as far as what would look most period correct for a '66 chrysler wagon. Check out this link and give me your opinion. The current 14" is out the window due to tire size availability. I'm trying to keep in mind if I were to keep the car for the next 15-20 years - 15", 16" or 17" -

Magnum 500s were available to 60s-70s Mopars.

I just installed these 17's on my wagon. I was trying to find something that looked like the Magnum 500. This was the closest I could find, without breaking the bank. American Racing makes the AR500, but they're very proud of them.

You know my opinion from your intro thread. As n2fordmuscle stated, I really like a nice tasteful looking 17" wheel. I run a 17" and 18" on my '92 that originally had 15" and I don't think they look anymore out of place than what a 15" after market wheel would look and by your own admission the 14" are out so from a purist point of view (which I'm no where near) it would be incorrect anyhow. I have 15's on other cars, which I am planning on switching over to 17" soon because I just like the numerous selection of tire sizes in them. Ultimately it is your choice and it is just my opinion I am sharing but we are talking 17" not 24" and I have personally walked up on many of old cars and until I looked at the tire size, didn't even realized they were 17's because they chose a wheel that just seemed to fit. Good luck which ever you choose.

-----^^^^^^ What he said. If they look good and are not overly large that's all that counts. fordmuscle's wheels to me are borderline but fit the car.

If I had a '66 Town & Country, I'd try to get some original Chrysler ralley wheels, like these, available in a 15" size:

They do now have reproductions, but I believe they start at 17" and up. For my eye, 17" might be a bit large, although I would have to see how they look on the wagon. If you could get them in a 16" size, that would be ideal.

There's also the matter of tire availability. It's becoming more difficult to locate our size tires. They're available, but no where near the selection of 15" and even 16" sizes that there once was.

Advisory: Be sure to check your bolt pattern and correct offset, so you know what works and what doesn't.

That's the wheels I was referring to in the 17" size. That wheel and some 255/50r17...sorry, I get carried away sometimes! :rofl2:
