Well, I joined 14 years ago looking for a 69 country squire. I got distracted 7 years ago with a manual CTS-V wagon. Finally found this and am bringing her home: 1969 country squire 429/AC/Disks First Challenge will be to open the tailgate. When unlocked it does not open in swing out mode, and the window does not move, so i cannot open it in tailgate mode.
Congratulations! That will be a fun challenge. That was a popular green color for 1969 Fords. My folks had a '69 Galaxie 500 hardtop in that color..... Guess it's a bit hard to tell, but that IS a '69 Galaxie hardtop parked in the driveway. Christmas, 1969. I was in my first year of (junior) college, still living at home, but soon to move out......
Great find! I learned to drive on my mom's 69 LTD with a 390, and my dad's 71 Country Squire with the 429. Both were great cars. You'll have a blast with that one.
i am stoked! Can't wait to start bringing it back. I have never done a wagon before. and I am partial to green!
So Far I have rebuilt the rear window motor and repaired the handle. the handle had worn the channel way and could no longer actuate the release. I drilled a small hole and put a steel dowel pin in it and it works like new. I do have to replace the firewall mounted window relay. I think I will just use a modern relay - little luck finding a NOS one. I put in petronix electronic ignition and drove it to Publix with the wife on the 30 year old barn tires. It drove surprisingly well. I have a holley 750 and an Edlebrock dual plane manifold sitting in a box from summit - so that will be next - along with tires. I also have a replacement compressor and a left over 30lb can of r12 from the 80's. So i will see if i can get the ac sorted w/o replacing the whole system.
I almost forgot, I have replacement shocks and coil springs also sitting in boxes waiting for me to get some time... One of these weekends I am going to sandblast the underside and por15 it.
