rad...I was referred here and am stoked. Wagons rock. My name is Billy and I do custom paint and autobody in Olympia WA. I picked the 83' caprice wagon estate up from an old man for $800 bucks with 134k. I since have spent countless hours and a few thousand dollars..and more to come. I stripped the woodgrain, shaved the trim holes, limo tinted everything, put in DVD/navigation and 4000 watt 12 speaker system, Toyo proxies on TT11's, 17" rear, 15 in front, lowered front end, air shocks in the rear, dual 3" exhaust and...then it got HIT this summer in my driveway (hit and run). I then bought a complete parts car, swapped the goodies, and am in the process of doing final bodywork to be ready for paint. It will be done the next two weeks. For paint I'm doing two-tone....black with the sides being candy rootbeer brown metallic with very light gold pearl ghost flames. Will be top notch I've fascinated about finishing this car for two years and she's ALMOST ready. I'm also custom painting the interior accents and will post how-to's. LOVE TO SEE SO MANY SWEET WAGONS GUYS keep it up..fun stuff.!
Hey, how many in your fleet? Seems all the West Coast guys are hoarding the wagons. You'll see some of the other Fleet masters come in here oggle at these beauts, welcome...
4000 watts! I'D BETTER SHOUT BECAUSE YOU MUST BE HARD OF HEARING BY NOW!! WELCOME, THAT'S QUITE A BEAST YOU'VE GOT THERE!
was that you that woke me up the other nite ...???... dam kids and thier Rap music!!............... ..just jokin man..I've got about $6000.oo worth in one of mine..does that count??
nice..thanks for the warm welcome. I dont pound..unless it's a good tune. It just has to be there in case. As far as others..I have a 91 volvo 740 wagon..still going strong at 236k..and i have other toys but not wagons. Noone gets why I am putting so much work into a caprice wagon ...i dont see why they're confused. Not only are they coming back big time, but I have NEVER seen a caprice estate pimped out...I love the pics of them jacked up though..killer.
btw..about the hit and run a witness that saw/heard it get hit but didnt get a liscense plate # but said it was a suburban. The wagon was parked with the bumper even with the corner of the fence. You can see the tiremark where it slid about five feet. Besides the fender and valance (and doors), there was no inner damage at all. In fact I drove it like that for a couple days and it was perfectly fine aside from the cosmetics. The a-hole was going about 35. What car thesedays wouldnt be completely totalled after that... anway...good ol american steel.
re yea it sucked..but that's not a new one..thats the same one. I am about to post an update...final paint this week.
Very nice work! If I had one of those, I'd probably fix it up along thse same lines. Have you checked into what will work from the later Impalas ('92-97) - like the rear disc brake axle set-up from the impala SS; bigger fron brakes; etc. A lot of that stuff should practically bolt in.
Welcome, from down the street here in PDX. Rock on with the Caprice. I get it...why everyone else doesn't, who knows? Just means more for us! I still haven't gotten my wagon yet, but still doin' the research. I'm just too picky (and too poor) to decide on which wagon to get. I think I'm down to 89-90 GM B-Body wagons or 90-91 Ford/Mercury fullsize wagons (those years have the combo lap/shoulder belts in the back seat). But I had a Buick Roadmaster sedan a while back and a Roadmaster Estate keeps coming up as a strong possibility, too. One day, I'll get my wagon. You'll like it here...great guys and lots of knowledge (and comic relief).
