Oh, terrific...I came here to learn how to re-skin an old jalopy, and this has to be the first thread I hit. I have about 30 years behind me as a certified dock-rat, and I've spent more than my share of time "up the stick" in a bosun's chair. Two things I learned.. 1) The closer you get to the top pulley, the less beating you have to take (think about it). 2) Always keep a piece of beef jerkey in your back pocket. If something goes wrong, you'll have time for an in-flight snack on the way down.. ..
Let me think...There was "Hear no evil", and "Speak no evil"... Oh, yeah...I was "Don't do that on the carpet".. ..
How to tell you're a hard-core gear-head... You fall off'n a 1570-foot tower...And your biggest regret is that you'll never get to see your last 1/4-mile time-slip.. ..
You probably wouldn't make it down in one piece anyway.... Get sliced up like sushi by the guy wires.......
ive done 60 foot ski lift towers in blizzards with ice every where you step thats pretty hair ball but just been up that high wow
You pretty-much can't throw a rock in Ft. Lauderdale without hittin' somebody's boat but, yeah, I've worked in the Port, too. I used to do all the radios on the cruise-ship tugs... "Port Everglades Yact Club ....(No Wimps Allowed)"
