I´m sorry for being so rude and not introduce myself. I just did not think of it, but this will change right now.

Hi I´m nikkebakken and I live on and island called Frösön in the middle of Sweden. I´m soon to be 50 and my main interest in life concerns automobiles of any kind.

30(!) years ago, I went on a roadtrip to your beloved country and one of my goals then was to count as many classic chevys that I could. I stopped after 2 weeks, there were just too many of them.

We( me and 2 girls) started our trip from Hightstown NJ and ended up in San Francisco CA. Our companion on that trip was a 72 Chevrolet Kingswood, which we sold in a town called San Rafael. We bought the car for $4000 and sold the wagon 3 months later for $700. We felt like loosers.

After returning to the motherland, my main goal was to return to the US asap, but my life took another turn and I ended up with 3 kids and an apartment I did not like. Life took another turn and I seperated from my wife. I then had 3 boys and was single and once again life took a turn again ( are there no straight lives..) and I met the darling of my life, to whom I now I´m married with and ever so happy.
But, I have always wanted a stationwagon, and three years ago I sat scrolling through the internet and found a really cool wagon:

The 1961 Country Sedan from Ford.

Always had a thing for Ford and this car in my country is a very rare piece.
A month later I went to a rather large carshow (1200 cars or so)
and right in front of me was a 1961 Country Sedan.
Called the wife and said we have to buy another car, she replied:
    - You already got a 69 Mustang and the Volvo, we just can´t afford it!! Shucks.
So for the next three years I checked if the owner had sold the wagon, but it was always unsold. So in my mind, I thought that I would eventually be able to require that gorgeous piece of car..

..until 4 weeks ago, when I met the previous owner telling me he had sold MY car. $ 10.000 was the price and I couldn`t pay it then and I couldn`t now, so I guess I just had to let it go both mentally and physically.

Then my friend, who is crewchief in a dragracingteam I belong to,
told me of a 1974 Mercury Marquis that just might be up for sale,... and that started the whole circus again...

So, that´s why I sneaked into your place and started asking questions ´bout the Merc.

Below is my 97 boring Volvo, the Ford I was going to buy and a picture on how I wanted it to look like.

Thanx for listening, I will behave in the future..:)

nikkebaken--Yes, indeed, this is right where you belong. From your great introduction, it sounds like you definitely are "one of us", who is afflicted with the inexplicable love of wagons. Such a shame you lost the '61, but hey, maybe you weren't supposed to get it anyway as the '74 should be your's.
Welcome and let us know what happens with the Colony Park.

:Welcome:to the wagon train, nik. Great intro! Hey...nothing boring about that Volvo...looks nice. I hope you are able to find the wagon of your dreams. You might find one over here and have it shipped cheaper than buying one over there. We will be glad to keep an eye out for you when you decide on the year and model you want. Good luck and glad to have you here!

Thanks for the great intro. Like others have said, you could probably get one here for a lot less, add the freight and taxes and any fuel conversion costs and still save money.

Here's some Falcons for pricing ideas. Not country sedans but you can buy solid cars for as little or as much as you can dream of! :biglaugh:

Here's some that you could buy and restore over there, from western Canadian or US prairie states.

    Hi. :Welcome:
I live in Winnipeg, which is for the most part of the year, frozen in the middle of Canada.
I too have a place on an island, and many Scandinavians settled in the area because it looked so much like home. I'm a Carlson.

You Swedes are awful tall too. It takes Andy at least 3 seconds more to unwind his legs to get out of the car.:rofl2:
