    Post your wagon sightings here.

Driving to work on the Interstate highway yesterday I spotted the telltale sign of an old car approaching. Round headlamps! LOL.

Of course everyone is going 70+mph and the other car is on the other side no less, but as it got closer I got a quick look as it zipped on by.

It was a 1971 Ford Torino Squire wagon! White with the wood paneling. It looked in mint condition. WOW! What a good sighting!

This was at Noon, so he wasn't using it in the morning rushhour thankgoodness. But a real treat to see such a unique wagon even if it was just for only a few seconds.

I didn't see this today, but I was lucky to have a camera when I did!
I don't know what year, model or anything else about this car, so if anyone wants to fill in the details we could put it in the gallery.:bouncy:
    It's an Oldsmobile, right?
OK, I just noticed the "Fiesta" on the grill!

I saw an old pontiac just like the pic at the top of the forums. Black, woodgrain bottom. Stunning. Have been seeing lots of BMW 5 series wagons too. Sooo nice

I was driving home Sunday morning and decided to stop at the grocery store.

As I entered the parking lot, I saw my twin. A Khaki colored, 1988 Mercury Colony Park LS.
The exact duplicate of my car! [Plus a couple of dents.]:yippee:
What are the odds of two identical 20 year old cars being in the same grocery store parking lot?

I found these two on one of the side streets nearby. I'd seen them before but when I finally got around to going over to take some photos, the brown one was gone. Well, it finally showed up again so I grabbed my camera and took some before it vanished again.

I looked out in the driveway and saw a gold 2002 VW Passatt wagon. Now that was depressing. Maybe thats not entirely fair. Its actually been a few months since I got the most recent letter asking me to join in to a class action lawsuit about the latest factory defect. And I think its been a few years since I've recieved a recall notice, and the ac actually works for a few minutes before it shuts itself off, and the brakes have been working better lately without having actually done anything to fix them, and its been quite a while since a headlight or tail light wiring harness has melted, and the carpet has actually been staying dry when it rains lately, and I haven't had the onboard computer or any of its sensors stall the thing lately or dump big clouds of smoke out the back. And its not like I actually need to see the LED lights on the dash that sometimes work and sometimes don't. No, its actually been doing fairly well over the last year since it turned 70,000 miles. It still looks real nice anyway, and it gets about the same gas mileage as my 68 Barracuda with a 318 V-8. No, as imports go I guess I'm doing pretty well with the Passatt. It could be worse. I could have ended up with a Toyota instead. On the other hand, neither I nor the local repair shop has been able to determine yet, why I sometimes get the odor of hot anti-freeze in the cabin. It doesn't seem to have any leaks.
On a lighter note, I did see a 62 F-85 Olds wagon at the local cruise in Friday night.

Could be nothing more than the placement of the cabin air intake in relation to the cooling system vent.

On the 3.0 Mazda6, the vent for the coolant recovery tank sits about 12" from the cabin inlet location. Not at all uncommon to catch a wiff of coolant now & then. Many owners sticks a piece of vacuum line onto the vent and tuck it below the engine compartment. They say the smell goes away for good.

At a local cruise Friday i saw this very cool Buick. The owner had a new paint job and used real wood on the trim. Hard to tell from the pics but the paint is two-town with flake on the roof and the American wheels really set this wagon off.

I drove out to the Shenandoah River today to check on the condition of my family's cabin. Its a two hour drive each way, mostly on 2 lane roads through small towns. Newer stuff I see all the time. I know I saw at least three mid 90's Roadmaster wagons. I see one or two of those just about every day anyway as most are still on the road as daily drivers. But I did see a cream yellow 78 or so Fairmont Squire wagon pass me going the opposite direction. I imediatly thought of Norman. It was the year with single square headlights on each side and all its wood (at least on the drivers side) appeared to still be in decent condition. Finally, I spotted a late 60's Rambler American wagon tucked between a 65 Mustang and a mid 80's Camaro in a driveway. There was a 4 wheel drive Eagle (Hornet/Concorde) wagon in another driveway but it didn't look like it had moved in years. No other interesting wagons, but I did see several other 50s to 70s vintage cars including a few for sale (57 Imperial 4 door hardtop project car, 73 Nova SS, and 62 Studebaker Lark Daytona 2 door hardtop) sitting in various front yards with for sale signs in the windows. As I sat eating lunch in Luray, Virginia at the Hardies fast food restaurant I watched as a little old lady driving a 67 Fury 4 door sedan, first drive east on Main Street with three elderly passengers. Then she passed by again going west with two passengers. Then when I left I passed her again with just a single elderly lady as a passenger in the back seat. I'm guessing she was the original owner and was the perverbial little old lady driving the car to church on Sundays and in her case, she car pools and takes all her friends home after the Sunday morning service.
