I'm trying to sell my '58 Ford "Class Project" ranch wagon or trade it for another car to work on with next year's auto shop class. I found someone who wants to trade money + a 1964 fairlane wagon for the '58. He lives far enough away that I probably won't be able to see the car in person before the trade happens. I don't know much about the Ford wagons. Anything I should look out for? Can you get parts for these?
The '64 Fairlane wagon is desirable amongst those who both like the '64 Thunderbolt & Wagons. I have seen them fixed up to resemble the '64 Thunderbolts. These midsized Ford Wagons of the 60's are getting quite sought after because they useful and look great. As long as all the wagon only stuff like the tailgate are there, I don't see how you cold get hurt on it. I always liked these midsized '60's Ford wagons because they are big enough to use, and small enough to maneuver. There are many parts still available for them in reproduction form, and I occasionally still find these fairlanes in Pick & Pull yards so thats a plus. Good luck with whatever you decide. It sounds like a good project wagon because its rare enough to get attention, and still has parts available for it that won't break the budget.
Where is the car located? I know Dearborn classics has a ton of stuff for that vintage Ford (have been getting things fot the 63 Ranchero from them) and they are located in Oregon, so only a couple days out for ground delivery to Seattle. http://www.dearbornclassics.com/catalog/search?year=64&model=B&category=ALL&super=
