I've looked at all manner of Fords and Mercurys with the 170/200 engines and all are either black with red rocker covers for the early 170s and blue for the 200s. Mine is the only grey one I've seen. I guess it because mine is a reman engine. Has anyone else seen a grey one?

yep seen many gray ford sixes at one of the airlines i worked for we used to get the rebuilt motors from a place in tacoma the name fails me at the moment but they were always gray,,,,they were pretty good rebuilds and the motors held up to the abuse they took from the ground pounders in the tugs and belt loaders

That Capri Six was blue, wasn't it? Never really noticed, now that it's come up. I like what you did to yours though. Sure makes it easy to work on.
