The one, the only and beloved Eagle Freak Metro mystery is here: http://www.stationwagonforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6884 And Gone. http://www.stationwagonforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8349
Wow. I read through the whole Metro post and that is a crazy trip! No that truck pictured is an old Ford delivery. It's pretty close from the looks of the Metro, tho. Also, I'm on pg 24 if Dr B's restoration. that is awesome My post approved but it is on the 1st page. Sorry about so many photos, it may be a bandwidth hog.. I need to order a carpet and headliner for the 68. Apparently the GF's tolerance for a rotted carpet isn't as high as mine! does anyone have experience with stockinteriors.com? their products look quality and pretty decent prices, too. also, there is/was a nice NOS 68 CS bumper on ebay, but there are large cutouts near the ends. and I can't see any holes for the bolts. the ad says it's for an early 68 which I think mine is. what are the cutouts for? thanks for everything!
Welcome Vandall, I know I'm late to the party. For the brake problem check out the master cylinder real well. Either it's bad because the push rod is too long or it will not allow the release of pressure causing the front brakes to get tighter and tighter each time you use the brakes. Most likely the later. Master cylinders are cheap.
Yes StockInteriors has been well-spoken of by a few here. Good service, good fabric matches, etc. The Bumper cutouts are probably for bumperettes or the protective plastic bumper strips that were optioned on some models. I don't know when Ford started mounting bumpers from the rear edges (top and bottom) of their bumpers, but that's a possibility. Mine have no bolts from the front face, all in the back.
Welcome Randy! Oh man, do I love your '68 Country Squire! It sure cleaned up great! This is the first year for the LTD Country Squire...yours is wonderful! Nicely equipped! I like the power windows big time! Stereo! Beautiful light parchment interior! I like that it is a 6-passenger. Most people love the rear seating, but I usually prefer wagons without it...I like the storage under the floor. Randy, I'm so glad you saved this wonderful wagon from the crusher!!! You're bring it back to life! :2_thumbs_up_-_anima David
Thanks for all the kind words and good advice! In an update I got it registered with a vintage plate that looks great. I'll post pics when I get some new ones. I've been driving it a bit and am currently rebuilding the Autolite 4300 right now. A seal let go and it would purge fuel all over the front of the manifold.. not good! One of the wheel covers had one tab missing and it was a bit loose. I'd had all of them on and drove it (carefully) once to a cruise in, and then recently again. I knew I should have taken it off, but was in a hurry, blah blah. So I'm driving along at a good clip, and then I hear the dreaded clack-clack-clack sound. I look back and see the cap on the shoulder for a second then disappear for a split second in to a ditch and then pop up a couple feet! The lip is folded flat on one part I have a line on a replacement, but if anyone has any 68-73 Ford "deluxe" covers for sale I'm currently looking. And I need to order a carpet and headliner but am not sure on the color. I was set on getting the 559 Ivy Gold carpet until I saw it on a different computer and it looked really green. Here are the color samples: http://www.stockinteriors.com/CarpetColorUp.asp?Select=1&TypeId=4&HideACC=False If I don't get the Ivy Gold I think the Parchment Tan or Light Saddle is the best alternative. The stock looks gold but it's really hard to tell it is so dirty and decayed. But the gold on that site is too bold for me. Is there one correct color for the car? What do you think of ivy gold? This is the best photo that shows the original carpet color: thanks!
I think the good Doctor (Brian) just got some carpet for his 1967 - Saddle colour. Check his latest pics and comments in his thread.

AWESOME! This is exactly how I found my first Country Squire, a '77 that had been sitting for years. I restored most of it while I was in college. Bought it for $150, had it trailer towed to the shop I worked for. I still remember the looks I got from all my friends, like I lost my mind buying a 30 year old wagon covered in moss and rust. I hit a deer on my way home from college. The '77 was totaled out. On the day I grad from Western, my best buddy brought his truck and a trailer down to tow my '77. At around 9am, the trailer brakes locked up sent my buddies truck into a roll. The LTD went for a ride of its life. The trailer did not roll, but the chains that held her in place bent her frame, the fenders of the trailer pushed in her doors, and the ramps did some heavy damage under the rear cargo floors. The insurance company cut me a check for the damage. So I ended up parting mine out and buying another CS.
