Hi everyone. I'm in the military and currently in New Jersey. I had a 92 Buick Roadmaster wagon at my last base in Texas. Unfortunately it was to big to put on the trailer and haul it to Jersey, so i had to get rid of it. Thankfully for a great wife, she let me get another wagon. This time I found a 1988 Mercury Grand Marquis Colony Park. She came with a custom 50 foot paint job, an Elvis skull hood ornament and a few Northeast age spots (rust). I prefer GM products, but I love cars, my daily driver is a BMW (not a wagon). I have basic mechanic skills and I want to learn more, but the military keeps me moving and away from family who could teach me, but I do my best. At least the bases have full garages and tools that I can use. Thanks for listening while I ramble.
The body is in very good shape. The rust is on the bottom of the doors and a small spot of cancer on the last pillar.
Welcome Ron. Northeast age spots... We just saw one like yours, at the junkyard that had a Ming undercoating lifetime guarantee sticker. The sticker was on the glass, the body was a big mole on the ground! I think the paint was holding the door handles on.
...paint over the rust....and the flames!!!! thats sad that someone would do that to a newer car....sorry....usually i'll bite my tongue to the board...and please please...paint her...return her to her previous splendor
I know the flames are polarizing. I got the wagon so I could increase my mechanical skills. New cars suck to the do-it-yourselfer. The plan is to work on the suspension, motor and then the body. She sat for at least a year. I finally finished changing the plugs, wires, cap and rotor. Now it's off to the DMV this week for an emissions check. Hopefully she'll pass.
