OK, pictures coming soon, once I get around to sizing them down to fit here. But I've had my 1996 Roadmaster Wagon for about 2 weeks now, and I'm starting to think about upgrading the factory stereo. It's the Concert Sound II stereo, which sounds pretty decent all in all. But I'd like something without a cassette player, since I can't remember the last time I had a cassette. Ideally, I'd like to install a different GM factory head unit with in dash CD and an AUX input for my iPod (rather than using the crummy FM transmitter I currently use). I'd like to keep the OEM look while getting a few more bells and whistles.

Anybody done this? What head unit did you use?

well you could always just keep the original stereo in and install a Rockford Fosgate 360 unit. it allows you to hook aftermarket amps to your original stereo and includes a input for an Ipod. Your best bet if you wanna keep the factory radio in it would be to get this RF 360 unit. then get a 4channel amp to run your speakers. then if you run a sub you can hook it up the same way with a seperate amp. then the all your speakers will be ran on the aftermarket amp, you will still retain all your controls on your factory unit. You can adjust levels on the RF 360 unit. you will still use your main volume control on your factory unit to control volume and all other options. i will leave you with a link to the Rockford Fosgate website about the RF 360 unit for you to check it out and read the info and diff models. if you need any other help let me know.

oh if you really wanna get with a diff head unit you can go with a double din size and you won't have to worry bout a dash mount kit.

That's an interesting idea, the RF360. I'll have to investigate that a little further. Thanks for the suggestion!
