so jen and i had a knock down drag out yesterday: she was upset that i refused to take TiKi out in the rain today to run our daughter less than 1 mile to my in-laws house s they could watch her while my brother in law and i fix some damage to my house that was caused by ice dams over the winter. she wont let delaney ride in my truck because its a standard cab. and (even though ther is no pass side airbag) she thinks its dangerous. she explain that because i said i dont want to take it out in the rain and ABSOLUTLEY WILL NOT take it out in the snow, that im putting the buick before my daughter. .....guys? can ya relate? i was waiting for her to say it was her or the buick.....i would have missed her.
I would say a 1 mile ride properly secured on the fromt seat of your pickup is a reasonable risk..... But what mom says, goes.......
Nuts! no woman is worth giving up your life and that car is part of your life. i have had trucks from the time my son was born, he is now 21 . i drove his happy little child seat around in my trucks and he lived, SO HAVE MY 4 GRAND KIDS! some woman are just nuts with there crazy idea's ,they get in there heads and because they think there female ,there suppose to be right every time. they forget, that most guy lived ok with out them before they came along. marriage is not a ultimatum's . it’s a partnership of two people and woman forget that after they say " I do"
You gotta make her feel safe, or you're in danger. Most lionesses are like that. There's lots of male lions with high voices and the scars to prove it.
I agree. About 2 1/2 years ago I took a "Baby class" for fellas who were about to become fathers for the first time. It was put on by the local hospital. At one point one of the other dad's to be (a hot rodder)asked another (State trooper) if A) it was against the law to put baby seats in the front seat of a truck and B) was it safe? Answer to question "A" no. Not against the law. Answer to question "B" yes. The main concern is the air bag. If it deploys in an accident it be bad. So, if you have an older rig with no passenger side air bag, it is Perfectly safe to put a baby seat in the front seat. (or, as safe as a person can be while in a car/truck) Most newer rigs with pass side air bags also have an "Air-Bag Off" switch. My wife was the same way about it until I explained it to her. I have a car seat in my truck (mine is a crew cab, so it IS in the back) and it's a 78. We put it in the Plymouth, the Bronco and now in the Ranchero. Now what are we gonna do with all these new rigs with 42 airbags in ever location in the interior? Gonna have to put the car seat on the roof.
Am I not mistaken in thinking that you are supposed to have the airbag disabled with a child in the seat? ...because of the injury the airbag can CAUSE if it deploys.
none of mine have or will have air bags, unless your talking abut the driver! in that case, it big and smells some time's.
all i'll say is this....sometimes a boys gotta do what a boys gotta do.... .....ta keep the peace !!! nuff said?
Airbags do more damage to the interior of a car then they do good. they also do more damage to passengers and drivers then you would get without having them. The only reason airbags are needed is because the cars built these days are so damn unsafe and cheaply built, its the only way a person can survive even hitting a deer! My older brother had a 96 Cavalier, hit a deer at 70 mph, the airbag deployed, it tore his nose off his face and was only held on by a small flap of skin and broke both his wrists. the body damage from the deer (I worked in the body shop and repaired his car) was 1/3 of the damage cost, the airbag caused the other 2/3's of the cost. The airbags took out the windshield, dash pad, drivers door window, inner drivers side door panel and blew the drivers side outer door skin out so bad that it needed the entire door replaced. He begged me to leave the airbags unplugged and I did. i also have unhooked the airbags in all his former vehicles he has owned since, just as I have to all mine as well. I would rather eat the steering wheel and the windshield then get hit in the face by a burlap feed bag!
Scott! Don't sugarcoat the damage! I like my old-tech Wagon. Luckily, the only guy I know that has an airbag car is Andy, and its his wife's car. Too much room used up in the dash for that stuff! Seems to me they could have used more padding instead or more responsive seatbelts to restrain people.
You need to disable the airbag (try getting her drunk...lol)...sorry, couldn't resist. "Hell knows no wrath like a woman scorned..." My wife gets really unreasonable sometimes, and I usually find out later it's over something else totally unrelated... She's probably really upset about the ice-maker not working!!!
