Went with Foxflyer40 to the Plattsburgh show over the long weekend. Had a REALLY fun time. I was the only car in my category, so it wasn't difficult to take home the first place trophy... My wife always said I'm in a class by myself... Guess she was right...
That wagon deserves a trophy, 442. I looked long and hard at that wagon when it was in MN and it's a real nice job on that car.
Thanks - I'm proud to own it... It's been a lot of fun so far! The '72 is Foxflyer40's... It's a sweetheart of a car too - 39K orignial miles when he got her this spring... Only saw one other wagon at the show - a Chevy II wagon. I meant to get a pic and forgot, but it was a clean wagon in a beautiful copper color... Life's good!!!
On the ride back, as I approached the ferry, which was full, the girl kept waving me forward. I said " I don't think it will fit." She said "yes it will." Me: " it's 17 feet long!" She: "Keep it coming..." ... Now 2 more deckhands are involved "Boy, it's longer than I thought." "I don't think the rope will go around." "You just sit there with your foot on the brake, it probably wont fall off." Har-dee-har-har. They were just cracking themselves up. A fun day all in all. Lotsa folks smiled when they saw the W-30 olds!
Congratz 442 it's sweet Have you experienced being put in a class by yourself yet AND THEN THEY PROCEED NOT TO JUDGE THE CLASS I'm not a trophy hunter by any means, but that was down rite rude But then, that's what Cuda 'N Challenger 'N Charger 'N Road Runner dudes think of us Wagon guyz. 'Course when they ask me what my E.T. is, I in turn ask 'um what they hold on to when their pistol grip shifter isn't handy
No, I haven't run into that yet. I was wondering if I would be combined with another class though - that probably would have been more fair. My preference is for shows where they just pick the top 20 favorites... There's never really a "fair" way to do it - in the end, I figure it all comes out... After all, it's not like anything changes whether I win a trpohy or not - I still leave with the same car I came with... And that's a good thing...
Foxflyer, do my eyes deceive me or am I correct in noting the absence of that beautiful mud flap? Congratulations, 442. Isn't that your 2nd trophy so far?
