this car had been sitting for 12 years 66k original miles, records show new dis cap and wires prob only 100 miles on them.
Put a new fule pum on, ran great!
still old oil was going to change today then...

last night i degrease the enging, then wouldnt start this morning, so i did the wire dry in the dist cap and on wires, started but ran real rough, drove it a bit to dry it out, started to run better, but now check engine light came on and im getting a ticking sound, sounds kinda like a Diesel.
sounds to me like its comming from more of the passenger side of the motor, around the valve cover, any ideas? water from degreasing and ticking related? anyideas would help

Could be arcing at the plug wires due to having been wet. Sometimes you can see it, a spray bottle of windex with ammonia can hrlp. Just mist around the suspect area and you'll see it. Other times you can't see it. You could do a 'poor man's' power balance test, which involves using INSULATED plug wire pliers and pulling 1 wire at a time. when you pull a wire and it doesn't really affect the way the engine runs, that's your culprit. wait about 1 minute between pulling wires to avoid dumping too much unburned fuel into the catalytic converter.

Or you could pull the wires and dry them and reassemblr with dielectric grease.

Injectors will tick if they are dirty.
After sitting for 12 years it needs a good run.
And I would put a bottle of this stuff in with the oil change.

it was low oil pressure due to sluge in the oil pump pick up screen from sitting so long. 3 engine flushes with K1 Kerosene, drain a quart of oil added a quart of Kerosene, run for 5 mins drain, switch out filter, add 4 quarts of cheap oil 1 quart of kerosene, repeat. last one pour a quart in with the drain plug out to wash out the rest of the k1, add new quality filter then quality motor oil. Fixed. Pressure came back on the first one, 2 for good measure. Been running all weekend, highway and city, great oil pressure, no ticking, no check engine light. An old ex ford mechanic's advice. Next oil Change in 500-1000k then back to every 3000k.
Smooth ride, next, convert ac for R13a

Good tip on the oil sludge. :thumbs2: My dad and I used diesel instead of Kerosene, at slow idle, no revving.
