jase....that car is in Sewickly... that is one of the highest end neighborhoods in Pittsburgh. i guarantee it isn't at a trailer home there isnt a mobile home for 20 miles... i would be surprised if it wasn't garage kept.
ill call them and see if they will be around sunday! im heading that way!

sounds like its making its rounds, in a good way though. Sad that it sat so long with no one enjoying it. almost makes me ashamed that i want it, since it would be in the driveway isntead of in a garage. (i dont have a garage)

    on the contrary!
he has been driving it daily
it had 89,xxx when i talked to him (as he was driving it )
he said the car was bought here and then taken to florida and kept at a winter home down there. then brought back here and put in a barn in 1991.
he bought it a year or so ago...so he could demo it....but he said its was in too good of shape to derby it that is why he is selling it.

    the report

    ok ...
the car started smooth and ran very quietly and smoothly
the tranny was just rebuilt a couple mo. ago so it isnt suprising that it shifted smooth as silk.

the "glideaway" tailgate and window operated smoothly from both the key hole on the rear and the switches on the dash.

the stereo works great as does the 8 track player.
all power windows go up and down smooth and quiet as do the power locks.

the best part... the a/c is ice cold!!!!

    the bad:
the carb could use some adjusting or a quick rebuild.
    and the body....
the only rot on the car, while bad by my standards, but not by most was this
    [IMG]

that is it!!! no bubbles anywhere else....nothing.
they were gonna put a new fender on it and take it to mercer pa (north of me) and have a guy airbrush the woodgrain on the new fender (this guy specializes in airbrushing wood and blending it with the factory wood.).

Even if you don't like red....that's a helluva nice wagon and the price isn't bad either. Someone here that's in the market should jump that one.
    EDIT:
Oops...I didn't see that rust area.....

yeah but mike that is one rust area on a 34 yrs old, 1.5 mile long wagon!
given the overall shape of the car ..... i would jump on that one..if i had the money and i could find where my wife hid my balls!

its another oddly optioned car.... no 3rd seat and no roof rack.

:rofl2::rofl2:Well....FIRST thing you have to do, Ian.....FIND THOSE BALLS!!:rofl2::rofl2:
Don't care about the third seat or the rack....still a helluva car. I just have a REAL AVERSION to any rust (and I don't like it in red). Over-all, however, this is, no doubt, a CLEAN wagon!

What's in your wallet SF? :biglaugh::biglaugh::biglaugh:

For the wee bit that's there, that would be an airport limo up here. Definitely has lots of potential.

Wow! What a nice, garaged example! Look at the rear window weatherstrip on this thing! Perfect! Steele could use these as the mold for reproductions! This one also has a cargo lock.

This needs the fender carefully repaired, just splicing in fresh metal from a good donor fender, and then patching the woodgrain. You would never know it was damaged.
Scrubbing the undercarriage and engine area with a good metal conditioner, like Metal-Ready, and then painting them up fresh, and this would be a beauty!

I'm tapped out, and have more than my share of projects, but I so want this thing!

    David :)
