When I came to this forum looking for a wagon, everyone pointed me to one of the two beasts from the early/mid 90s; a roadmaster/caprice, or a squire/grand marquis/colony park.

I've put on 500 miles and not regretted yet; the one time I was spooked there turned out not to be anything wrong-- I was just coming off of my experience with my 2001 volvo, just look at that thing funny and another part would fail! And expensively, too.
I've since gotten nothing but compliments on the colony park, and while one mechanic was clearly out for cash, my family mechanic found nothing wrong and corroborated that they're solid cars! He wished they still made them.

So these wagons are billed as tough-as-nails and cheap to maintain; how many miles does everyone have on their wagon? What are the most miles you've ever seen on a wagon, yours or someone elses? I'm wondering where the limits are!
Of course the sky is the limit, if you replace every single part; but realistically here :)

I can't remember exact off hand but the Crewzer has LOW miles but alot of things were new(er) when I bout it. the car was'nt really driven much so I can understand why certain parts would fail because of age. Yet I have owned (Dad bout in new) a 1980 Plymouth that was still turn key driving with almost 300K miles on it and the only things ever replaced was shocks and exhaust. My Dad had a 87 T-Bird that went that long also, Dad was anal about servicing cars more than on a regular basis.

It's all about how the car is maintained/taken care of IMO......it's similar to this, it takes a couple years of work to really train a dog but in the wrong hands a dog can be ruined for life in a month.

Don't beat the bark off a a car, regular oil changes, service etc, take care of it and they should last years with no magor problems

Mine says 55,800 KMS (really 155,800 KMS) or about 92,000 miles. At least for another week, when I get it back together.:thumbs2:

I can't imagine not having it. I'd go back to Mexico and buy another, in a minute.

Just happened to look at the odometer when I started her up this morning - it read exactly 61,000.

and im trying to keep them off her too!

Teddy had a point, take my buick and the chevy i just sold.

the Buick had 80k on it when i bought it. was a 1 owner car and was service at the Buick dealer only with some regular maintenance done by the owner(there are notes in the owners manual...and the dealer printed me all the service history)! i have not had to do squat to it except replace a rear wheel bering.

the chevy caprice had 105 on it when i bought it. was also a 1 owner car
it never saw anything other than a jiffy lube since it rolled off the lot. the original owner worked near his house so it got the "aunt minnie" cycle.
    i had to replace
    4 mis-matched tires
    full front brakes
    tranny filter and fluid
    water pump
    optispark (distributor)
    plugs, wires
    sway bar bushings
    idler arm
    drag link
    rear main brake line

just goes to show you what proper maintenence does!

Not much of the car is original - just the rear diff housing, but we've got 205,000 miles on it. It had about 50,000 on it when we bought it 30 years ago, and I don't know how accurate that was so I'd say that was at least what was on it. On this engine I've got about 40,000 and the tranny is brand new. The current gear set probably has 100,000 and I've got a rebuilt 8-3/4 rear end to put in it yet this year. Front end was clipped in '94/95 with a '77 Trans Am disc brake car with the HD suspension and I put dropped spindles and springs on it last year (S10 - first series 2 WD, it turns out. Had I know I could have saved a bundle).

We used to do trips from Vancouver, BC to Southern Alberta at least once a year, about 2,000 miles round trip after we first moved out to the coast. We had other vehicles but nothing that goes down the road that is as much fun as the wagon, and it is our touring/vacation/let's go somewhere car. Much of the highway mileage the past 15 years has been with a vintage trailer in tow, so it has seen some hard use and we've seldom had problems. Kicked off a u-joint once, cooked a fuel pump wire once, and  lost a rear wheel once - that one really bugs me.

130,000 or mabey 230,000. Not sure. The engine leaking
1 quart of oil every 150 miles from the rear main seal, and a few other things (tailgate not aligned at all), make me think 230,000.

I bought my Fairmont with 113,000 miles on it, it now has 115,500, all on original parts. The car runs almost as good as it did the day it rolled off the showroom floor. But, the 2.3 will be coming out this fall for a 351W. I might freshen up the 4-cylinder and look for a body to slip it into.

My wagon has 68k on it. One owner, well maintained, all original, and we used it for towing.

Highest, mileage I've seen was my 97 Town car, friend bought it new, I sold it at 537k MILES not Km.

my 89 Colony Park came from the previous owner with 235,687 miles on it. The thing ran like a champ and would stay at 80 all day just like a brand new one, but she was leaking oil from every place one can leak. it was cheaper to put in a remanufactured engine than have the old one repaired. so now she only has about 2000 miles.

My 85 Caprice Estate, which im the 4th owner of, has 197,000 and needs only an oil pan gasket.
