Hi, my name is Ben, and after almost 8 months of fighting with the state I finally got the paper work sorted out, for the most part any way. My wagon is now on the road. It is a 1985 Chevy Caprice Classic, it has some character.
Welcome Ben Your handle - Iggy - is how we nickname the leader of one of our political parties, Michael Ignatief, ex-Harvard Prof, ex-pat Canadian, leading the equivalent of the US Democrats (our Liberal party). Sorta caught my attention. Glad you rescued that fine wagon.
Ben. I really like the description "It is a 1985 Chevy Caprice Classic, it has some character." What a nice way to say the paint is bad, the trim is falling off and by the way the hubcaps are missing. I'll bet with a little elbow grease that fine wagon will sparkle. I'll have to steal that quote when it comes to describing my car.
Nice, Iggy. They say persistance overcomes resistance and I think you're probably evidence of that. Nothing worse than having to deal with bureaucratic red tape, but it was worth it if you finally got your long roof on the road.
Tbird don't we all look for character. That just gives us the opportunity to put our mark on things and really make them our cars. Besides, with a purchase price of $50.00 and a cost of $200.00 for towing and a new set of brake lines both hard and soft. I really can't complain.
nice ride. i forgot how nice the 85 dash was. back in 1995 when I force to start my life over. I had a 1973 crew cab F350 with a FE428. it got 12 mpg highway. my wife at the time, lived 200 miles away and I was commuting back and forth. when I had time off from work. one day my sister and I where having a day together and we where used car lot shopping. we came across a 1985 impala station wagon that was used by the sheriff's department. it had the 350, 700-4R and traction lock rear end. every thing the police 4 door had.. even the little switch that would not let criminals use the back two door. it only had about 90,000 miles and sheriff's where getting new cars. when me and my sister first drove it. we smile at each other and said we take it. to bad, I lost it two years later in the divorce!
Actually I saved it. It has been living in the back yard of my friends aunt's house since 94. The county is so broke it has people searching for any reason to fine you, and they spotted the wagon and told her that if it wasn't removed within the week they would fine her and charge her for the removal so they could scrap it. The $50 she charged me for it was just for show.
