Ok guys newbie here so be nice:)
    I'm buying a 1984 Country Squire tomorrow, only 88,000
been sitting in a garage for years maybe 10 or so. Its CHEAP TOO
No one lives at the house so i can do alittle work to get it running. What do you recommend. Plan is to drain gas, new batt, add new gas give it a try:)
I've bought a few of older trucks that have been sitting, just added gas and battery and bam, ran them home. Im not sure if these have fuel injection or carbs, dont want to clog injectors. I really just did a quick walk around it, made a scrap offer, and they bit!:) ran up untill the guy went into a home.
Any tips? I've wanted one of these for a while.
Im sure you'll all be hearing from me, i'll upload pics after i get her all cleaned up.
Like I said any tips would be great. As this is newer than most of my past toys.

If it's been sitting that long, pull the coil wire and spin the engine over with the starter to get the oil sloshed around. The whole inside will be dryer than an Egyptian Mummy. Keep a little gas in a jar or spray some starting fluid into the carb, after that, and then give 'er a kick with the key.

She sounds like a good project start to me.

84 is a borderline year. I'd bet without searching the web that it has a CFI system. Basic throttle body in the carb spot. Definately crank it for a while but don't be surprised if the fuel pump doesn't wake up depending on the condition of the fuel. More than likely it'll fire first try.

Don't know if the EFI cars had an electric fuel pump, but maybe you can check that out?

Could even possibly be a fuse...here's hoping it's nothing more than that.

yes it has the throttle body injector, it has the fuel pump cut off switch in the back back glove box storage place, i had a winstar that had that, so that would make it eletric. Washed it.. paints in great shape, niebor came by and said always garage kept and the wife just drove it too play tennis, and to the grocery, and they took it too there lake house on the weekends. interior is mint minus the headliner cloth sagging, tires good.Where the fuel pump on these?
rainning most of the day here, couldnt really fool with it long.

The electric pump? I have this nasty feeling that its in the gas tank or close to it. If somebody upgraded or replaced it, you might be lucky to find it under the hood. There should also be a Fuel Level indicator idiot light, if the car was loaded, AND/OR a remaining distance display (Lincolns and luxury Ford/Mercs had them).

If you haven't got the owners manual, you might look for the build list under the seat cushions for the Options package.

Do you have the Ford Shop Manuals for it too? That's one handy set of books along with the EVTM (Electrical Vacuum Troubleshooter Manual).
