    Hi!

Picking up a colony park this weekend!
If I unload my volvo in the next week, I might just be able to pick up a roadmaster too :)

    I was looking at these:
    http://southcoast.craigslist.org/cto/1672602424.html
    http://philadelphia.craigslist.org/cto/1663921253.html
    http://westernmass.craigslist.org/cto/1670744143.html
    http://pittsburgh.craigslist.org/cto/1662671896.html

Thoughts? The 67,000 mile one is, well, awfully low mileage! and 102,000 isn't so bad either.
I might like the roadmaster even better than the colony park I'm getting; newer, has abs too right? And better fuel economy? What is it I hear about it being hard to find parts for caprice/roadmaster?
The fact is that I could buy 3-4 colony parks or roadmasters for the price of my hated volvo, so I could probably own both for a time and then resell one :-D

Hmm, looks like the one in southcoast (just called the guy) is a little off; he'd posted before he looked in earnest at the car.

Says now it's only 60,000 miles; but it HAS been sitting for a while. The woodgrain is peeling (ease of replacement, or of outright removal, for those who have done it?), needs brake work and fuses. I could factor that into price; but I think he was also going to try to do the work himself over the next week, which would be good.

He also says it's a 1994. I know 95/96 were a pair (no modifications made) and are the more desirable years, what happened between 1994 and 1995?

It's not that difficult to find parts for a Roadmaster. Some parts are no longer available new, especially body, trim, and interior. I had a colony park that I sold when I got my first roadmaster and have never regretted it. That last ad says a 95 but judging form the wheels and mirrors it's probably a 94.

In answer to your post, the only difference between 94 & 95/96 is the 94 had "pod" mirrors and the later cars had bigger swing away mirrors. There is a slight difference in the wheels, too. Also, the 96's are OBD11. 94 -96 are all LT-1 motors.

Those aren't many differences at all!

I know that OBDII is the scanner standard; still used today in 2010.
I presume then that the 1994 would be OBDI, the logical predecessor; and if so, are there any deal-breaking differences with the earlier protocol?

thanks for the link! Good stuff there.

Hmmm..mmm I'll do some more reading and sleep on it. Interested if other people post their ideas here; in the meantime I'll come up with more questions in the next couple days.

the wheels in 1996 had gold script whereas the 95's had chrome script
94's had more pronounced spokes on pretty much the same wheel.
1996's also had a special hood ornament (aka the lollypop).

also the 1996's had 4 O2 sensors instead of 2 so they can get a lil pricey to replace.

the Colony park is a classic wagon...so to speak. its built to be comfortable and to haul people and cargo.
the roadmaster and caprice wagons were kind of a "sport" wagon. they had agressive styling and (when properly equipped with the grand touring suspension) decent handling(by 1996 standards anyway).

Go for the low mileage one, that's a great price. I paid $3000 for my RMW last fall with 89,000 miles.
You can get the woodgrain decal. Search for it in google, or on the impala ss forum. I've seen it at a reasonable price.

I would stick with the CP. If that CP is anything like it looks it's an absolute winner. And I own a 96 Cappy Wagon. I love it but the CP, as Ian mentioned, is a classic and a helluva a nice wagon if it's straight as it seems. I didn't look at the other wagons you just posted.
