so Friday a.m. heavy rain here car in the driveway I get in and there is a dinner plate size puddle on the driver's mat (carpet dry) later that day I notice a crack to make a long story short, they come out today to replace the glass and the guy says the frame is rusted but he can fix it, grind it and paint it and replace the glass, but not here, at the shop, so ok, next week. I was so impressed with all original glass, but this car was driven in very dusty sandy conditions and the glass is like it's sandblasted, I will gladly forego original for new
I bet the windshield frame around my 72 wagon is rusted so bad that no shop could do it. Windshield leaks like crazy (top center). Glass is still like new though... I know they will probably end up breaking it when I take it to have it resealed.
they came to my office but said it was rusted but they could fix it so I went to the shop Wed and they did it, came out perfectly, they said it was not bad - did a nice job on the bottom of the dash that shows and is impossible to clean - looks great and new glass is awesome - my windshield was so bad, like sand blasted, just one more of the things that was lied about when I bought it. Oh well, it was no charge thanks State Farm. I also learned some great information about replacement glass - it's all available somewhere. Wagon curved glass and all.
Hey Jeff, happy to hear things went well with your windshield replacement! Good to know all the glass is still available...I put a big scratch in one of my rear curved windows when I was removing the trim...still hurts to think about it :banghead3:...keeping my eye peeled for another good used one, but new glass may be the ticket! hey David I am actually waiting for the glass company right now. Our (work) 2008 F450 needs a windshield and they need to adjust (?) the garnish (?) molding at the bottom of the windshield where the wipers sweep past to park. Left wiper hanging up. I was tempted to go with a hammer :banghead3: but thought better of it LOL being glass and all duh
