came home saturday, and some punk ass kid decided to break out a window and damage the hood and passenger fender on my wifes calypso passat wagon. nothing was stolen and the part that sickens me is this was just random vandalism. THE CAR WAS UNLOCKED FOR GODS SAKE!!!! i just barely noticed it on my way past, the car is about 500 feet from my house blocking the driveway down to my shop, with my passat sedan next to it. it wasn't like that when i left on saturday morning, but missing a window when i came home at 3PM. of all the parts i ahve for the car, that is the one window i DONT have. more $$ to fix something that wasn't broken. not to mention the paint job its gonna take to make the car right again. since its a metallic/pearl color matching is not as simple as it would be if it was just a base color. this si the first issue i ahve had since moving to teh middle of NOWHERE in 5 years. i am wondering whats next.... my RC, Jeep, or maybe my Power Wagon???
You know...this kind of thing always worries me. If you have something nice and unique some people just have to ruin it for some reason. I always hate leaving my nice wagons parked anywhere unattended. But it's not always possible to have your special car under cover. I feel for you, datto. I hope you can get the insurance company, AFTER you pay the deductible, to bring the paint job back to what it was originally. That's the next set of problems these vandals cause. Problem is, too,....if you would have caught them and shot one of them....YOU would be in jail. There is something way wrong with our system.
I agree with SilverFox. There is definitely something wrong with our system. I moved furniture to work my way through college. There was a kid that worked there for a while that was one helluva juvenile delinquent apparently. He told me he once broke into a car to steal the stereo, but couldn’t get it out. So he jammed a flat blade screw driver into the middle of it. He said if he couldn’t have it he wasn't gonna leave it the way it was. I wanted to throat punch him on the spot. Piece of $#!+ How do people get to that place? The silver lining to that story is he did get caught at some point and had to pay a couple thousand dollars in reparations. I've had the little quarter windows in the back door of my Explorer busted out (one time, each side) they are more expensive then the rear roll up window! And they did take my stereo, twice. So for the last two years it's been a "stereoless" rig.
I was just reading about the 1949 Hudson radio controls. The darn thing was mounted on the driver's floor. You changed station with a pushbutton seeking switch, and did the volume with another. Either that or put a delete panel and install the radio out of sight with a remote control. My guess is that Datto got hit by some kid who's Mustang was left in the dust when he drove past him. I've had mine vandalized twice, until I put up a 7 foot fence. The cop said it was probably some kid who missed his bus, and figured he'd steal a car to get to school. He failed on mine, but wrecked the wheel and ignition completely. He stole the neighbour's mini-van, after trashing 2 other cars.
It's not right; it's just not right. You can't help but wonder what this kid's parents taught him. I say, find out who the kid is, find out what he drives and then run over it with your Power Wagon. That'd teach him!!
thanks guys for the support. this car ahs been sitting for the last year due to major trans issues, so it wasnt a matter of someone that got pissed off at me. its just random vandalism. and to top it off, the car hasn't been insured so its all on my dime to fix. its just a pissoff, thats all.
Man I haven't had that happen yet hopefully wont but I get super pissed off when people throw garbage in the bed of my truck! I can't imagine how ticked you are. Oh one person I did get back though...I was sleeping in the truck then heard something and saw a punk college kid throw trash in the bed so I grabbed it and waited until he got in his car tapped on the window and when he rolled it down boom!!! in his face lol and I decided to throw my milkshake at him too....oops
Thats horrible. This is why i have a laptop with a video camera watching mine int he driveway when im not driving it and i park in the cameras almost constantly. Ive had punks steal my plates, but nothing else luckily. I hope your able to fix it.
Hey, I'm a kid... AND I WOULD NEVER, EVER, DO THAT! That person deserves to be beaten. The problem is not kids, but lack of parenting. I'm sorry to hear this. I have had my issues with dumbass kids too, and it sucks. Some people have nothing better to do with their lives than make messes out of other people's stuff.
Not in Texas!:Blasting_anim:new law says you mess with someone's stuff on their property they can shoot and kill you. you can at least count that kharma will take care of things.
Kids dont have any respect today like they used to. Too much dead time, leads to bad doings. Back in the day my dad would take his belt to my rear every time I was caught screwing up. Today you arent allowed to discipline kids so they take advantage of it and run wild. I blame the gangs , grafitti and the blatant vandalism on the erosion of parenting. The moms and dads today just dont care enough about their kids to show them how to be productive members of society. I was the victim of a carjacking in the Monte Carlo I had, in Oakland, Ca. The kid, and he couldnt have been older them maybe 19, At a red light he got into the passenger side of the car and pointed his gun at my face and yelled to me to get the F___ outta the car. The hell with that I thought, i work hard for what I own and if he wants the car, he will need to kill me for it. Hed better make the first shot count because he wouldnt get a 2nd. So I ran the red light and punched it right through the intersection with him in the door. He was holding his gun in one hand while trying to grab anything he could to hang on. The guy ripped off my glove box door, grabbed the stereo deck, and somehow after maybe a block his legs got trapped under the car, and broke. At that point he let go, laying on the street screaming in pain as I drove off. I went to the Oakland Police the next day and told them what had happened and they did show up after I left, the guy was in the hospital and they arrested him once he got out. Of course he denied everything I said had happened. Cops didnt buy it, so he went off to jail and I was given a ticket for speeding along West Grand Avenue. I blame the parents for this.
