Got the stock engine about done tonight. Im waiting on one little, but very important part and it will be ready to drop in. I had to pretty much fully assemble it on the stand to make sure everything fit properly. I had to grind the starter, and the oil pan for clearance. The headers are very tight to, well, everything, I hope they fit in the car hahahaha! I have less then a fingers width between the oil pan, and the starter! As soon as the oil pick up tube gets here I'll be cramming it in the car(hopefully tomorrow) The pic should give a better idea just how big the headers really are!

OK Rock, help us 'Old Guys" out.....what are we building/doing at the moment, the real meat and potatoes..no fast food. I'm getting older and it's hard to see over my fat belly so lets stick to what is going on now. Your headers are for your 305 from the car or is this a different motor (in your pic) You did bring up the 1500 hp your doing but..what is happening now for real> We are interested:wave:

Tell ya what, I dropped in a few different Cady engines in my day. The 425 backed with a 4 speed in my 68 GTO was a hoot! As was the 425 in my 80 Trans Am. The most surprising was the 79 368 that I dropped in an 84 Regal. That was a blast! Ran low 13's with the bone stock motor and got almost 23mpg average. Them Cady motors are all torque and that what it takes to get a car moving, then HP takes over in the high speed department.

Right now Im sitting on the couch being lazy typing this waiting on my pick up tube to get here. :rofl2:

I have right now a stock 500ci Cadillac engine that Im putting in the car.(400HP, and 430TQ) It's the one in the pic with the header on it. I have it all assembled hanging on the stand as I type this. I had to ordered a pick up tube because I am using a cast rear sump pan rather then the mid sump pan that came on the eng. The big motor is all taken apart and standing in the corner waiting on funding. The machine work alone will cost me $3,000 so it may be a while. Im trying to buy a house right now, and need to come up with $6,000 for a down payment. That's my priority, when Im all moved in, and have room to work I'll get started on the rear end, and the new suspension. Im collecting parts all the time, one day when I have it all I'll chop her up. The 305 is long gone, I sold it for $50 more then I payed for the car:banana:

Just a quick up date for you. Got the engine and transmission in this weekend, and started putting it all together. It's a little tight on the driver side, but I took out the A/C so I would have plenty of room on the passenger side. It fits a lot better then I thought, I figured it would be a lot tighter. I started a block off plate, but didn't have time to get it finished. Not quite sure what Im gonna put up there, it looks kind of odd with all the bare space up there in one corner, and the other one is stuffed. I got the new steering column in to, I used a '92 GMC truck column and cut the bracket off the Malibu column. It was the same length so it dropped right in. I got a camera to take better pix so no more phone pix!

No vaseline, I like KY better! :rofl2: It actually dropped right in with not much fuss. The driver side header will be a PITA but other then that it should go pretty easy. I just need a radiator, a water pump, and a flange yoke for my drive shaft. I need the one off a caddy 10 bolt, and apparently there next to impossible to get without buying a whole rear axle.

Fairmonts/Mustangs had Flange yokes on Ford rear ends. You could check Granadas, as well.

Got my driver side header on today, I figured out why it didn't fit to. Any one know of a really small steering U joint? :rofl2: It's so close I had to take the shaft off and there's no way the stock stuff is going back on. I've been looking around on line, but every thing I see is to big. I can fab a new shaft if I have to, but would really rather not.
